President Donald Trumpâs school safety commission on Tuesday proposed a rollback of an Obama-era policy that was meant to curb racial disparities in school discipline but that critics say left schools afraid to take action against potentially dangerous students.

Now everyone who ever went to school knows that if you arm teachers you will have more school shootings. Or to put it another way, overstressed teachers with guns is not a good idea.
But I also have to ask where, an administration that is constantly trying to gut spending on public education, intends to get the money for its suggestions.
Always money for killing people in this country. Making their lives better, weâre too poor for that.

While if there is any conclusion to be drawn from the entire aggregate of studies of guns and violence, it is this: fewer guns leads to fewer deaths and injuries by gunshot. Period. Youâre six times more likely to be shot if you live in a home where there are guns. A suicide attempt is more than ten times more likely to lead to death if a gun is in the home.
And hereâs the real kicker: over recent decades the total number of guns in circulation has increased dramatically while the percentage of households with guns has not. The households with guns simply have more and more of them, which means more opportunities for someone living in such a home to get a gun in their hands, with or without permission.
Meanwhile the actual uses of guns to defend homes are so few there are barely any statistics to measure it, it happens so rarely, while the instances of homeownersâ guns being stolen and used against themselves or in other crimes are abundant.
This Commission was supposed to look at safety after the Parkland killings - with a specific eye on gun availability and use. Instead, it leapt the tracks to hunt down policies that have been demonstrably beneficial to at-risk kids and the schools they attend. I guess if we were to get too good at keeping kids out of jail it might affect the profits of all those fine Americans promoting private concentration ca- I mean private jails and prisons. We already know how âkeep an eye on the profitsâ has worked well for insufficiently regulated for-profit schools. Letâs not lose sight of the money to be made if kids are incarcerated at higher rates too.
DeVos is quite simply evil and too stupid to ever know it.
