Oh, they’ll be covered by taxpayers.
with HHS Secretary Alex Azar and Attorney General William Barr — who now has to lead the charge — staunchly against the abrupt policy move.According to a Tuesday Politico report, acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney is one of the primary driving forces behind the push to repeal it.
The obvious next move is to put Mulvaney in as AG. Can Barr do WH COS, or is his job done?
President Donald Trump’s Cabinet is not united behind the decision to go after Obamacare, …
They know a loosing proposition when they see one
There is no plan
They know there’s no plan
They never had any intention of creating a plan
The only plan they had was Fuck the poors, which anyone with a functioning brain cell knows does not play well as an election platform.
But Dumb ass Donnie will persevere because reasons
Obamacare has become quite popular since Trump’s first assault, but its shortcomings are real. I think Democrats ought to compare and contrast Obamacare with some more advanced version of universal healthcare, maybe Medicare for all. Let Trump try to rally the declining older generation while the millennials rush to the Democrats. This should be a real push for a Democratic policy, not a retread Heritage Foundation republican policy.
The ACA is here to stay. The Rethugs are sh*tting green nickels on this because the Dem House has already introduced ACA 2.0 which is brings up more gradual improvements to the already existing law. This, I think, has a more broad appeal to the public. But, now Rump wants the whole thing scuttled because - reasons. And they look more extreme than the Democrats.
This just enhances the fact that Rethugs have no policy issues to run on for '20. None. Just like with '18.
acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney is one of the primary driving forces behind the push to repeal it.
Please continue Mick. Obamacare repeal attempts worked very well for the GOP the last time /sarcasm.
The Presidency of Donald Trump is basically a test of how well our democracy can tolerate a truly self-destructive President. I’m not completely sure our democracy is up to this test, but we’ll see.
acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney is one of the primary driving forces behind the push to repeal it.
This man was first elected to the House in 2011, where’s plan was he working on all that time? Where’s the Republican’s healthcare plan that was promised in 2009 by Roy Blunt?
The Republican’s battle cry for years has been “Repeal and Replace”, we’ve had the partial repeal but no replacement has been put forward. So MIck where’s the Trumpcare plan?
“Mulvaney thinks it will goad Congress into action.”
That’s a laugher. McConnell and Ryan had a clear shot at that and couldn’t even come up with a good temporary replacement plan. The GOP’s heart is not in healthcare reform. They are strictly an opposition party on healthcare.
The decision also puts congressional Republicans in a tough place, since many of them don’t actually support a full repeal of the law.
And apparently, at least some of them have not been made aware of the fact that they have no hope of getting anything through the House. That’s an even tougher place.
Trump can’t stand losing, so he’ll go after the ACA until the cows come home.
The ACA is working for many, many people. The Dems will do well to strengthen it, without going to extremes such as Medicare for all. For one thing, that would put a huge number of insurance people out of a job. Look at the insurance industry as a kind of welfare. Those people spend their money within the economy, pay taxes, etc. Go slowly, stick with what worked to win the House and don’t scare people with too much change.
…while Mulvaney thinks it will goad Congress into action
Psst Mulvaney, they don’t want the govenment to take any action. That’s the whole plan.
They could strengthen the ACA and take credit for it, neutering the Dems platform. Their robotic drive to just fuck away the election is remarkable. I know it’s Donnie Moscow’s (need a new nickname, if only there were others to choose from) primitive instincts to crush anything to do with Obama and to hurt POC (food stamps for Puerto Rico? Fuck 'Em, let them eat sand) but it’s mind boggling how he and the R’s just act like super-villains when a little bit of positive legislating would really hamstring the Dems.
Consistently cartoon-like these weasels.
They could strengthen the ACA and take credit for it, neutering the Dems platform.
Absolutely. And had they done that back in '09 when the ACA was being created, they might not have had to create any other policy platform for the next decade. But no.
Oh, you mean that election thingy last November? That’s just a fluke. Over-hyped by the lamestream media. What??! They have more seats than we do??!! How can that be possible??
This move by Trump puts even Texas in play for the Dems.
The other thing I think it does politically is it gives cover for those candidates who support m4a. As long as you have the ACA, the GOP will try to mess with it. M4A is harder to mess with.
It’s just not possible. That majority probably consists of illegal aliens. Once we get them out of the House, it’ll be party time again, and we can go back to failing to repeal and replace, just like before.
I think Trump is going after the ACA right now to distract from the fact that he is burying the Mueller report.
You know, I even have pet healthcare insurance— just like millions of other pet owners— because of veterinary costs.
If the Rs think people don’t like having healthcare insurance, they are dead wrong.
