On Brian Williamâs show on MSNBC, writer Jon Meacham talked about the intersection of âpolitics and celebrityâ. What a perfect example. With no facts or evidence key members of the Trump campaign immediately label this as an âassassination attemptâ and try to exploit it. Itâs just a like a local news program that interrupts its broadcast to cover a fire in progress. The fire has more impact than whatever they happen to be discussing at the moment so they shift to it. At this point, if a bird fell out of a tree at a Trump rally his staff would probably claim that he was âunder a missile attackâ.

UPDATE (10:20 p.m.): The man seized by police was unarmed and posed no threat to the candidate. The Department of Homeland Security said that the man was a protester who was attempting to unfurl a sign. The crowd thought they saw a gun and overreacted.
