How about quoting him directly? He claimed there were “thousands and thousands” cheering

I used to think Trump was doing this run to burnish his brand and make money.
It’s now my opinion that he is a dangerous fascist dictatorial blowhard out to turn America into a fascist state with himself in the role of Mussolini… He’s got the pout and the facial expressions down as well as the language. Every day that passes brings him and his dimbulb acolytes closer to destroying the Constitution and our way of life. My fear is that sane voters who should know better will think to themselves “Aw, this will never happen. Trump could not possibly be elected.” And they’ll stay home and ignore voting assuming somebody else will take care of it.
It’s our choice folks. All of us. Do we want the brownshirts in charge and the loss of everything we hold dear? Because if Trump or one of the other GOPers gets elected we are SCREWED.

It is true however that Palestinians in Israel and other Muslims in the Middle East and South Asia did cheer as the buildings came down. but not here. Not in the US.

Ummm… I seem to recall that as the buildings were coming down, no one even knew who was responsible for the attacks. How would people of middle eastern descent in New Jersey even have had enough knowledge at the time to supposedly cheer what was happening? I mean really, they were somehow in the know?

In a sane world, the media would call out Trump for being a liar and a fool, and people would take a step back and rethink their position on him.
But this is not the world we live in. The media can call him a liar, and his supporters will dig their heels in against “liberal media” smears. Since Trump channels these people so well, calling Trump a liar is effectively calling his supporters liars as well, and his supporters don’t like their beliefs challenged by facts.

Some fact-checker had better quickly search print and audio/video reportage from 9-11 and go public with its rebuttal. Just making this charge, Drump has already “confirmed” what some Americans already believe about the “Muslim menace”. More Americans, who may be skeptically inclined, will remember televised footage of an overseas crowd cheer the towers collapsing and conflate that memory with Trump’s claim they were from New Jersey. As long as Drump’s lie remains unrefuted, it will be exploited by other GOP campaigns and cynical media with agenda.

OK…but we don’t all have to be stupid. Trump says folks were cheering when the Towers came down and it was “well covered”. I’ll be damn if I saw that coverage but I have to ask: When the towers came down…at that moment…no one knew what the hell was going on or what caused it. So why would “Arabs” be cheering the Towers coming down? Trump’s implying that because they were Arabs they hated America and sided with Al Q in taking down the towers. But as they were falling no one knew it was Al Q…so why cheer?
Can someone please cite “coverage” of the cheering. I think Trump has an obligation to do so.

It was not clear what Mr. Trump was referring to. There were cheers of support in some Middle Eastern countries that day, which were broadcast on television. But a persistent Internet rumor of Muslims celebrating in Paterson, N.J., was discounted by police officials at the time. A search of news accounts from that period shows no reports of mass cheering in Jersey City.
Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said the response of Muslim-Americans on Sept. 11 was disgust.
