So there are Republican Hispanics in Nevada?

Donald Trump won a whopping 44 percent of Hispanic voters in the Republican Party's Nevada Caucus Tuesday night

That’s like what, 12 people?

Not surprising really. You have to have a high tolerance for Trump’s style of rhetoric if you’re a minority in that party, so no reason to think it would be any different for Trump himself.

fivethirtyeight.com also pointed that out. The numbers were quite small.

Um… I’m not great at math but if Trump won 44% of the latino vote, how is that more than Rubio and Cruz combined? 29 + 18 is 47, right? 47 > 44?

I’m unsurprised in the sense that nobody but Miami’s White Cuban Exiles considers them “hispanic” in the same way as other Latin Americans (and Latin Americans are far more fractured than we Anglos realize as we lump “brown spanish speakers” into a monolithic group).

However, given that I thought the only Republican Hispanics were (aspirationally) rich white Cuban exiles (see: CANF), this is surprising.

I guess some non-Cubans have gone over to the GOP.

Give me a break…45,000 Hispanics In Nevada voted for Romney in 2012…2800 Hispanics voted for Trump yesterday,BFD

That is still saying a lot.

And, it is an entrance poll. Very unreliable.

Exactly. The scale here makes the 44% insignificant. Now if it were CA results at 44% then the nightmare continues.

24% of Hispanics voted for Romney in 2012…so 2800/45000 = 6%…6% of Hispanic voters in Nevada
can easily be very very very very Conservative

WTF? I will begin to wonder what someone is up to if he walks off with the hispanic-latino vote in Texas. That vote is heavily weighted toward the Democrats as a rule.

Que es el mas macho?

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary. H. L. Mencken

The Republican nominee has to get 35% of the Hispanic vote…or they have problems in some very important states

Not really…

If there were, have the courage to admit you wouldn’t be astonished to see them vote Trump.

Some of the Blue Blazer Hispanic Republicans are just as xenophobic as their favorite white golfers.

76,000 x .08 x .44 = ~ 2600 Hispanics voted for Trump in Nevada.

Almost 990,000 African Americans voted for Romney in 2012 nationwide. No ethnic group is literally monolithic.

Damn it, I was going to say that! Props forever!
