tramp’s term will be known at best as “Amateur Hour”…
I hope I stocked up enough bourbon to survive the wait
Never could understand the strategic insight that it is wise to purchase military goods from a foreign sources. Such as trucks and other vehicles, those friends could cut the cord just as you need the materials. Then what do you do as you have decimated your internal industry. Rebuilding that industry will spend billions more than you could have ever saved.
BINGO, what The Dumpster said 5 minutes ago has already been contradicted at least twice.
As this day goes on, Trump keeps adding names of allied countries to the list of those who might get exemptions from his tariffs.
Instead of admitting it was a bone head move in a fit of anger because he was having another bad week, he now has to walk the whole thing back on his idiot terms. Never forget that Fat Donny is so desperate to be the center of attention and is constantly seeking approval (blame his weak mother and racist father), he will do anything to draw the spotlight back to himself. Even in the most idiotic ways. It is not about policy, which he doesn’t understand, but always about him.
One of the reasons we buy materials from our allies is we want favorable relations with them for placement of our security and military assets within their borders. It is a fair exchange and supports their economy while supporting our global interests. And, yes, our presence in their country boosts their protection, but when you think globally in a world that is fully interconnected, you realize in the long run, in the big picture, with adults in the room, this is a much smarter strategy than going it alone. The adults around Trump know this, but there were so few in the beginning and I think I am down to one hand to count the remaining adults in his administration.
I wonder: will “fair” be synonymous with willingness to invest in Trump properties or Kushner’s 666 Fifth Ave building?
Please get this criminal out of office! “Nice little trade policy you got there, be a shame if anything happened to it!”
I think he may have read a crime novel somewhere – nothing as sophisticated as the Godfather series, but real pulp – to get his idea of what negotiation is all about. Then he’s split it 50-50 with what he actually knows himself, that a kid in a candy store can get a lot of candy for a lot of money.
Voila: the art of the deal before a competent editor/ghostwriter works it into shape. Also his way of functioning, without any competent editing or review.
I encourage everyone to Google up “Trump, Plaza Hotel” and then spend half-an-hour flowing leads of their choice. What you will get is an amusing and appalling view of the person who gave TV the idea “Hey, a loud fake businessman. That could be fun!” Slight spoiler: he loses the hotel, the plans, the yacht, the girl, and his father’s and grandfather’s fortunes. Only the kindness of friends – and perhaps pity for a winsome and helpless young hayseed totally at a loss in the big city – spared him bankruptcy. Yes, there’s Atlantic City as well, going on in the background, a gruesome sort of side-show. But the Plaza Hotel caper is where one really sees all and everything of Trump.
Enjoy!
Great - no one for Canada to talk with in the Administration - so the only place to turn is Mitch McConnell, who has proved through the Obama years, and now through this first year of the Trump administration - that all that matters to him is GOP winning/dominance - with no regard for the US country in general.
This is the definition of the results of not just a chaos president/administration, but also the leaders of a party that in confluence with right wing chaos media have no intention to clearly consider policy and consequences of that policy - just ideology = throw a kickball to the floor (for a big bounce) in the middle of a china shop and see what all breaks and call it US trade policy.
No Smeghead , YOU just want YOUR commissions .
Buy US weapons and not those pesky European things…
