Discussion: Trump Reacts To Widow's Interview: We Had A 'Respectful Conversation'

When told by another adult that a conversation wasn’t respectful, every other adult on the planet is smart enough to say “I’m sorry you feel that way, again I offer my condolences for your loss and the thanks of your country for your sacrifice”

Every other adult.

You don’t get to unilaterally declare a conversation respectful, dotard. Respect is intrinsically a two-way street. But you’ve never interacted with a peer or equal in your life (or maybe since your father died), so you actually don’t understand this concept.

Of course. trump didn’t want to keep us in suspense about how long until he called Ms. Johnson a liar, so he did it within minutes of her interview.

It isn’t a business meeting trump. You’re supposed to be COMPASSIONATE. Look it up

“Believe me, nobody has more compassion than me. I have the best compassion. People say it’s the best. Really great compassion.”

Trump: I am from NY. We have a different definition of Respect, especially for The Blacks.
Kon Jelly: The widow is lying. I heard Trump say only nice things to her.

Day 8 - Supplies running low. Stupidity continues unabated. Donald clearly thinks this is a winner for him. There must be polling on this by now. Outlook grim.

SHUT UP.

That would be after an apology to Mrs Johnson.

And I hope that “Niger and the aftermath” is not only trump’s Benghazi but his Watergate as well.

What were our people doing in Niger? What was the mission? Let’s keep our eye on the the ball. Comparing the truthfulness of Trump to literally any other person is a waste of time.

Problem is trump thinks he’s an adult but he really is a man/child at about age 14. From his perspective he got busted for wrecking his dad’s car after a joy ride with his buddies on a run to buy some beer. Now he hasta weasel his way out of this predicament. Lying usually works so he tries that first.

trump: I was totally respectful to what-his-name’s widow.

Fox: Presidential!

I’d like to know too but I doubt that’s gonna be public knowledge any time soon. We do know that since trump put Chad on the “No fly” list the Chadian troops who provided cover for us in Niger and other places have been withdrawn. trump has yet to realize that the word of the POTUS have meaning and consequences are attached.

I wonder if there’s ever, in history, been something as sad, tawdry, contemptible, and cringe-making as the spectacle of a head of state saying he did too say the name of the dead soldier whose widow he was attempting to console, “from beginning, without hesitation!” I can’t think of anything remotely, remotely comparable. And yet it’s just typical Monday morning stuff these days.

No. From Donald’s perspective, this is two black people…and women challenging him. He will NOT tolerate that, under any circumstances. Combine that with his inability to ever accept that he does something wrong.

From his perspective, he is wondering why everyone else in the country isn’t falling all over themselves to compliment how restrained he is being. Because he wants to say A LOT more than what he has tweeted. But he has the greatest restraint. Really bigly.

General Kelly of the 208’th Coverup Division reports catastrophic mission failure. Repeat: Operation Fool’s Gold is a catastrophic mission failure.

Last week, to an extent, felt like the first time in the Trump presidency where it felt like the powers that be truly lacked a capability to even temporarily stem the accelerating whirlwind of derp. They’d had bad weeks before, but there was usually a breather here or there, a day when Trump merely singled-down rather than doubling-down.

It feels (I do mean feeling, not objectively fact-based) like this week is going to get very, very dumb.

The ISIS battle has expanded to Africa, and US troops hit villages where ISIS is suspected tto be. But without backup??

According to one source,
“There was no U.S. overhead surveillance of the mission and no American quick-reaction force available to rescue the troops if things went wrong. If it weren’t for the arrival of French fighter jets, he said, things could have been much worse for the Americans.”

Bigly indeed.
trump never apologizes … ever. Even though an apology in this case would work wonders. At all times he must hit back no matter the consequences. So now he has to beat up on a widow who’s husband died serving our country. An epically stupid move on his part.

Do you remember any days or weeks in which Trump was halfway normal, or did something you had to admit was reasonable? Even that time he just said “OK” to Schumer and Pelosi’s debt-limit deal was more just breezy bad negotiating and sticking it to his own presumptive party leaders. Not savvy, not reasonable, not normal. Abnormality is the new normal, it seems, and what varies is the degree.
