As a young man I hunted with my dad . Pheasant and quail mostly. It wasnât about a trophy. Most of the time we didnât even shoot. When we did take a bird it was for food, not a trophy as I said. To shoot an elephant, springbok, or other critter for no other reason than just to prove how manly you are is tantamount to murder to me.

Itâs hard enough for him to pretend other people are real. Asking him to understand that people care about animals is just futile.
My granddad had a rule when hunting on our farm, pretty simple. Donât shoot anything you donât want to eat.

My husband and I loved to fly fish and we used to spend vacations fishing. And we always ate what we caught the same day. We quit enjoying it as much when it went to catch and release - it just felt wrong to jerk them out of the water and then put them back all the time.
For some reason, eating them seemed more humane. hahaha
