Yea, a gun in the teacher’s desk is going to solve the problem. Rather it will create new problems. (1) if unlocked some, in the moment, anger allows easy access. (2) if locked, by the time it is retrieved the situation is resolved, the vast majority of these things happen in a couple of minutes at most. That is just 2 issues that come to mind, a little taught will find dozens more.

Most of those cowards are hoping to die. They’re there to die by gunfire as much as they are to take as many lives with them, you goddamned idiot! They don’t give a shit how many other people are armed. And even if everyone else is armed, any would-be mass shooter still has the element of surprise and the ensuing chaos when the entire campus eventually erupts into a free-for-all death fest and then an even bigger clusterfuck when the cops show up and have no idea who the “bad guy” even is. A child could understand how dumb of an idea this is.
I didn’t see the actual discussion, so I might not know the full context of this quote but if he really used the term “your problem” and not “our problem” then it just shows how utterly divorced from this issue he really is.
