Discussion: Trump Promised Cheaper Insurance For Everyone. Price Says That's 'The Goal'

So…not BETTER insurance, not more coverage, just CHEAPER insurance that doesn’t DO anything. Got it Price.

Stephanopoulos said that calling it a “goal” was different than Trump’s “guarantee,”

Wow!

The Price is Wrong!

“I would suggest to Martha that what our desire is, is to make sure certain you are the individual that is able to select the physician and the treatment that you desire for yourself, not that the government dictates to you,” Price responded.

So we’re getting rid of HMOs and PPOs as well? That’s actually two things government does not do. MCR and MCD lets you pick any providing physician.

I noticed Price never answered the question, but that’s ok because it was just such a Gotcha question anyway. You know, asking whether people are going to die because of unaffordable insurance is just such a trick question.

It seems this is a quite different goal than that stated yesterday by Ryan. What is the real goal?

Agreed - this whole canard of this new proposal suddenly allowing people to go to whatever provider they want to receive whatever care they believe is necessary is completely contrary to the health insurance model. Health care plans have pre-negotiated contracts with select providers and, in the HMO model, people need to not only use their contract providers but they need to go thru their primary doc to get referred to specialists or for diagnostic services. Yes, there are open plans with no networks but they are significantly more expensive because the insurer has no idea where someone might go or what it would cost.

We can all hate HMOs and they have strayed from their initial mission of being health maintenance organizations but what it sounds like PeePee’s minions are proposing is a return to the indemnity model which had coinsurance for every service, no preventative medicine model and no annual caps on out of pocket expenses.

Welcome to the 1960s - we’re so pleased we can allow you to choose just how you want to go broke and die.

If anyone knows “cheaper” it’s Tweeto Cheeto.

If by some miracle, Donnie passes DrumpfDon’tCare, will it count as yet another Drumpfian bankruptcy when it inevitably goes belly up?

There will be many people losing insurance that get diagnosed with maladies needing urgent medical attention. Angst will be minimized for them, as soup kitchens will be serving large bowls of freedom.

To go back to the pre-ACA days. Everything else is a frill…

“I’m the President of the United States. I promise and it’s my administration’s responsibility to walk back everything I say or translate my “bestest in the world” words into something that resembles the truth.” - Donald J. Trump

Looks like the GOP forgot were they hid the plan with lower premiums and better coverage. Probably in the same place they hid the Bowling Green Massacre videos and trump’s tax returns.

Again, it’s not about insurance it’s about the universal availability of and right to healthcare. And this choosing your own doctor is bullshit. Do you get to choose your own doctor when you have to go to the emergency room? When I’m sick, I want a doctor who’ll help me get better. I don’t care who he or she is.

What Martha needs to see is that her having insurance is the government forcing her to choose a doctor and provider, but her not having health insurance is her not being forced to choose only one doctor. She does not have coverage from literally every doctor. What choice.

Price seems to be the smarmiest, least sympathetic, least honest person in the Trump administration—maybe even more so than his boss.

And there was an economist on NPR this morning with his stupid “Facts”
" Why would you get rid of Obamacare when it actually reduces costs, is budget neutral and covers more people. You’re replacing it with a program that costs more, covers less people and provides tax breaks to millionaires. If anything to make it better they should make the Medicaid acceptance mandatory"
Damn Facts

Sorry to everyone who has read me post this a million times before but I repeat

  1. Trump guaranteed health insurance for everyone that would be much cheaper and much better.
  2. We now see that every part of that guarantee was a lie.
  3. In fact, Trumpcare is a con and Trump and the GOP are conmen.
  4. The con is worth $6 billion in tax breaks for the very rich, aka the GOP and their friends.

That’s the framework that will be understood by people who might not otherwise understand the issues. It’s Trump’s framework + actual facts. It takes down both the proposed bill and simultaneously takes down Trump and the GOP as conmen. Stephanopoulos gets it.

UPDATE: And Chris Murphy now gets it.

“Right now people are losing coverage. We have a plan we believe that will allow individuals to pick the coverage that they want and the physician and the treatment model that they want. Not have the government dictate it to them.”

LIES, LIES, LIES, Price.

The truth is people are losing coverage less than ever in the history of insurance coverage since Obamacare has been implemented.

It now costs the government a third less than what it did before Obamacare was implemented, since insurance premiums were rising at a rate that couldn’t be sustained by the majority of Americans in need of coverage. Obamacare slowed down that rate considerably.

Obamacare, the PPACA is not a government program for the umpteenth time, asshole!! Its keeps the private insurance markets at the center of its plan as part of the legislation, a Republican idea from the Heritage Foundation…something a lot of us were not too happy with to be frank, but the only way it could be passed into law…and something Congress tried and failed at reforming since at least 1965 until we finally got something Americans could rely on. Is it perfect? No. But it’ll always be better than anything you and your flying monkeys try to enact.

Look for yourself fool (nice to see Wikipedia locked down the page so assholes like Price and his grifting monkeys can’t fuck with it the way they’d like to.)
