Discussion: Trump Praises Hurricane Response As Harvey Batters Texas

I don’t think he’ll golf this weekend only because the juxtaposition of him golfing with people in TX suffering wouldn’t look good…although I wouldn’t put him defying his handlers with a “now watch this drive” move past him.

It doesn’t look good going to Camp David for a weekend vacation, after just coming back from a two week vacation, when a Cat 4 Hurricane is making landfall.

According to the Gospel, idle and tiny orange colored hands are the devil’s workshop.

The point is, he just doesn’t care. Other people aren’t real to him, their problems aren’t real to him. It’s just about image. In his mind, the important thing is to tell the idiots who still believe he’s doing great that he’s doing great so that when the media coverage starts, they’ll reject it as “fake news” without any prompting. And it’s perfectly obvious that Gauleiter Abbott is on board with that and will whitewash it no matter how terrible the situation is.

I have been worried about this after I heard Abbott asked about whether they would be verifying immigration status of those trying to evacuate. He dodged the question (“People shouldn’t worry too much about that.”) Saving lives doesn’t come first with these inhumane politicians. Hell, Trump might be so cavalier about Harvey because he thinks he’ll get rid of another group of illegals.

Think of the ugliest possible scenario—that’s what we will see.
Deportations, families separated, corpses shipped to Mexico… the moral fabric of the GOP has completely disintegrated, and anything goes.

Considering the man, being praised by him holds empty offerings.

Good God ,those 2 are pathetic. I’d rather have Gov. Christi here right now and Gov. Abbott at Camp David with his pal. The adults can handle this.

There must be a dry golf course out there somewhere.

I’m waiting to hear from the evangelists what the people of Texas have done to offend the lord and bring this storm upon them.

Pride Parade and Festival was supposed to be in Austin today. Comments have already been made on Statesman web page.

A little overkill there, god.

God said he would never send another deluge so another Supreme Being must be angry with Texas.

" the world is watching"

Always with ratings with this guy? Who the hell cares about who is watching the recovery effort?

My first thought was that Fort Bliss might have been a better place for him. But then, I remembered who it is we’re talking about. Camp David is just fine. The only better place for him I can think of would be somewhere in Greenland, but then, we like Denmark, and want to keep them as friends. Let Frankenputz go anywhere that keeps him out of the way while real professionals help the folks in trouble. The last thing people who work in disaster relief want is the disastrous distraction of politicians of any kind poking their noses in and keeping the real work from getting done.
I’m a former Texan, and it’s been a very long day, and night for me. There are many more long days to come. My hopes are with the people down there, and with the many good folks who are trying to lend a hand. They’ll need all the fortitude and hope America can spare them in the days ahead.

Can’t even imagine what days under a stalled hurricane might be like.
We experienced Frances in 2004 after Charlie knocked us and some Brit friends off Sanibel/Captiva and up to Indian Rocks. Amazing experience.

“Trump wrote the tweets from Camp David, where he is slated to receive “a teleconference briefing regarding Hurricane Harvey” at 11 a.m. ET, according to a White House schedule shared with reporters. His day was otherwise empty.”

Every day is empty when you’re a soulless sociopath.

Beat me to it.

I experienced Hurricane Agnes as a teen. It rained non-stop for more than a week, which brought on the Wyoming Valley’s (Pennsylvania) worst flood of the 20th century. After the waters receded, everything was covered in dust for months. There will be many long days and weeks ahead for millions of Texans. I don’t envy them. I have no need to go through another such experience.

Strange innit that the guy who swore to uphold the Constitution trashes it daily and so far with impunity. The 54% who didn’t vote him for want their country back.
