I think Trumpâs act is starting to wear thin. Reports this morning have Chinaâs Xi ready to tell him to pound sand. Turkey served notice theyâre buying Russian missile technology and weapons and Trump can go to hell if he doesnât like it. India is responding to his bullying with counter-tariffs. Companies are devising workarounds on all his mischief to bypass his trade and tariff policies, threats of punishment and sanctions for doing so be damned. Silicon Valley shrugs at his tech criticism. The border asylum officer union is suing him. Every day that goes by he sinks further into lame duck status and irrelevancy. Sure, he can and will cause a lot of pain and lose a lot of people money in the next 15 months, but I get the feeling no one is seriously gaming how to deal with him after January 2021.
Staff on TPM probably had a late night and happy to get anything out in a.m. But, I hear you. All about the guy that canât get enough stage presence, he has to make it up.
Now if we can just get Donald doctored!
One thing he talks about is Warrenâs rising poll numbers on economic policies. And although Iâve been leaning toward Biden mainly because I think heâll pull in some of the white guy vote that helped Donald in industrial NE states to get a lot of EC vote win with a tiny popular vote win, Warren might be able to pull those guys plus a lot of conserative white women votes because sheâs a woman and doesnât have a lot of Hillary and Bill baggage.

Look, Iâll be honest, I like to hatewatch. Many folks here do. Thatâs why this stuff is here. If everyone ignored it would go away. I also like potato chips. I eat a lot of carrots, and I know theyâre better for you than potato chips. But God damn it I like the chips, so occasionally I go nuts and eat a bunch of them. Same with this.
And if Trump capitulates to Xi, even the base wonât be able to brush aside his weakness.
ETA: I think your point about companies devising workarounds is an important one. Donald Trump still thinks Fortune 400 companies can be bullied by his bombastic personality. They know theyâll outlast Donnieâs shenanigans, and are planning accordingly. Again, another sign of his impotence.

And then thereâs the multiple indications that a recession is coming. And donât forget all of the broken promises to his base about the latest tax cut - people are still waiting for the âthousands of dollarsâ increase in everyoneâs pay from the cuts and associated pay raises.
