Discussion: Trump, Pence Dismiss NYT Report That Trump Questions Pence's Loyalty

Another interesting question would be whether it would peel the evangelicals off of Trump if he fired Pence.

Beavis and Butthead Exponentially to the Max!

There is one thing Trump understands about the Constitution- Pence is a heartbeat (or conviction) away from the oval office.

Trump is hearing footsteps behind him and wants to be sure Pence isn’t colluding with someone.

Apparently not, according to the original article.

Technically, that’s correct.

He can (by various means) “encourage” a resignation; and he can choose a different running mate for 2020.

I don’t necessarily buy it just cause the article said so. hahahahaha

I read that article and didn’t draw the same conclusions from it others seem to have. The author did cite WH sources that Trump asked the loyalty question to and all seem to have said: no problem. Some outside sources said that although Pence is loyal he’s not much use to the president anymore. Pence’s only reason for being there is to hustle religious folks but the article quotes people that told Trump he has his own bond with those folks now. Doen’t need Pence anymore. Perhaps the fact that Trump asked is what suggests he doubts?

No way Trump can stand Pence. Not from day 1.Pence on the other hand can stand anything that will get him what he wants.

Evangelicals will always vote Republican, because Democrats have too much common ground with social progressives, and evangelicals have a perverse commitment to being culturally backward. (For the record: I would expect the truly godly to be socially and economically progressive. Jesus was.) But that subculture now sees itself as in its death throes, with predictable results.

Pence strikes me as an ideal weld of the religious right and the Koch empire. From what I can tell, he has unimpeachable credentials as a long-suffering christofascist. And he happens to have come up through the Koch ranks, which means he’s survived several rounds of ideological scrutiny. I think neither aspect is fake.

Trump is disposable. I’m sure Koch hates him, considers him unreliable, and looks forward to his death. While the rank-and-file GOP have enjoyed the racist wind in their sails, they also know that channeling grievance is no good if they don’t have Koch cash to buy coverage, or the support of oligarch-funded megaphones like OAN and Fox. When Trump is gone, they’ll still benefit from those things, because none of it depends on Trump.

totally agree with that. Pence is not Trump’s kind of person and vice versa. They are really at odds and Trump might think and people tell him that evangelicals would stick with him but I believe about half of them would peel off… They are barely holding on - Trump has split the evangelical movement.

That’s not altogether true. Trump has driven wedges into the evangelical movement. They aren’t all Dominionists for one thing - there are environmentalist-evangelicals who don’t always vote GOP. For example, the Baptists are divided between Convention and nonConvention Southern Baptists. Nonconvention SBs don’t vote GOP as a matter of course.

This is what moron is doing to please the evangelicals on contraception

The Trump administration is making it easier for employers to exclude birth control from health insurance benefits provided under the Affordable Care Act, and it has come up with a new justification, saying that female employees can obtain contraceptives at family planning clinics for low-income people.

That, in turn, could increase demand for clinic services, which are already squeezed. The plan is one of several recent proposals that could affect access to birth control, such as requiring the physical separation of services at clinics and strict new rules about insurance payments.

Nuns and men think it’s a good idea.

Pence added that he and Trump “had a good laugh,” presumably about the Times report.

I saw that story this morning with a picture and I get so fucking mad about those goddamn nuns. What the fuck business is it of women who are sworn to celibacy?

Goddamn

They hate each other.

“Mike, stand up. Mike, will you be my running mate?” Mr. Trump asked Vice President Pence, who stood up, raised his hand, and nodded.

“Will you? Thank you. O.K., good,” the president said. “That was unexpected, but I feel very fine.”

LOL. I’ll bet when Trump looks in a mirror, he doesn’t even trust that guy 100%

We just learned that Cohen may have helped get abortions for eight women moron was diddling. Anything he says on abortion is just hypocritical bullshit.

But let’s talk about the Whitaker proposed man toilet made for schlongs of any length which Colbert was all over.

In November 2014 . . . World Patent Marketing, announced the “marketing launch” of a “MASCULINE TOILET,” which boasted a specially designed bowl to help “well-endowed men” avoid unwanted contact with porcelain or water. “The average male genitalia is between 5” and 6.”” the firm’s press release said. “However, this invention is designed for those of us who measure longer than that.”

I saw that. hahahahahaha Whitaker is just Jeff Gannon redux if you remember Gannon. Press-credentialed male prostitute favored by the W administration.

I’ve been imagining a scenario where a Gene McCarthy figure comes out of the R pack, challenges moron, as McCarthy in 1968 did to LBJ who then caved under the pressure of running against someone who was willing to sling shit at him and announced he wouldn’t run again.

Funniest story I’ve ever read. Whitaker also gave a speech in Des Moines where he said his priority was to go after “fraudsters.” But not himself.
