Discussion: Trump Passes Buck To Senate For Restrictions On Kavanaugh Probe

I appreciate his saying that the only groups he cares about are the “Republicans blicans and the Republican majority.”

The Kav debacle is a taste of how they will shackle Mueller once they get the chance. I so want Dave48 to be right about the truth.

The Republicans are just playing a game to run out the one week clock. I don’t know that anyone knows when that was supposed to have actually started. But you can bet that in a few days Grassley will yell “STOP! Everyone put down your pens and turn in your papers.”

He such a slime bag coward. Lazy good for nothing would happen to Donald did you have to read more than one paragraph beyond your ability to cope you know if they say you can’t teach stupid and he’s a prime example.

You can take the guy out of real estate, but you can’t take the real estate out of the guy.

Spanky is such the lying real estate promoter who keeps saying that he doesn’t know why x,y, or z hasn’t happened. He specifically asked for those documents to be done that way. He will drop everything and get to the bottom of it.

I think it’s covered in at least one Perry Mason episode.

And a nod goes to jeof…

So, what is the strategy of/for the Democrats here? Once again it feels like only Republicans “count” in this discussion and there is no real position that the Dems hold, nor is there any real understanding of how they plan to present an alternate path going forward.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m happy that at the very least they’ve managed to slow down this confirmation, but if this candidate is not confirmed what (for example) would an acceptable candidate look like, especially if the Democrats manage to gain a majority in the Senate?

The reporting makes it seem like the “opposing” party isn’t even a part of this narrative. What makes that change?

I keep hearing that while public polling is really bad for the GOP, internal polling is even worse. That’s why they’re sticking with Kav now. They could’ve cut bait, but they missed the window and now they can’t get anyone confirmed before the midterms. I’m thinking that they are now genuinely concerned that the midterms will be so bad that they will have a tough time corralling the votes in the lame duck to confirm anyone. If Democrats take the Senate, and I now believe they will, there will be no “will they or won’t they” games surrounding vulnerable Dems. Collins and Gardner are up for reelection in 2020 which is already set to be a freaking disaster year for Republicans and there is only one Democratic senator who will be at all vulnerable. And even then they’ll have to worry that Roe v. Wade gets overturned or some other drastically, fantastically bad decision gets handed down where the next nominee is the deciding vote. It’s basically Kav or no one at this point.

So they’re making lemonade out of this lemon, trying to amp up their base of angry white guys ahead of 11.6.18. At least that was what I came away with after watching the angry diatribe last Thursday afternoon.

Progressives absolutely need to approach this midterm as if we’re in danger of losing every race in every district and every state.

Get out the voters!

Slightly OT, this Willie Nelson song, “Vote Em Out”, that he just introduced at the Beto O’Rouke rally is catchy…

Absolutely! That’s what Lindsay Graham’s rant about white guys was all about. They figure if they can drive out the angry white guy vote they can use it to offset the loss of suburban women voters.

He’s just trying to confuse the issue, to give himself an out when the whole thing comes crumbling down around his fat feet.

“Get off that bench, you entitled monster.”

Yeah, it was a good segment.

You know how, when a tree falls in the forest, all kinds of strange and beautiful things grow on the wreckage? I bet some really beautiful art will spring from the corpse of the republic.

Avenatti could maybe put on some hustle and pull some triggers.

I don’t care what bomb he’s cooking up: if he drops it on Thursday night, it’ll probably be too late to stop Kavanaugh from putting his hand over Lady Liberty’s mouth to muffle her screams.
