Discussion: Trump Pardons Cheney's Former Chief Of Staff Scooter Libby

the rule of law is is on life support today
.
beyond shock.
I recall the trial, it came when blogging was at its infancy.

That seems like the best interpretation of this move. It’s only Trump’s second pardon, and while it’s a political figure, Libby isn’t someone who campaigned for Trump, let alone someone that Trump is likely to know much about. I could see Bannon or one of Trump’s lawyers coming up with this pardon as a means of sending a message to Manafort and such that he’ll take care of people who show “loyalty” to him.

There is no way to read this except as a message to Manafort and others that Trump will pardon them no matter what so keep your mouth shut and take your conviction. No one cared about this case anymore. Libby never served jail time. Bush didn’t want him to lose his 5th amendment protections, so he commuted the sentence instead of pardoning him. Either way, it does nothing for Libby’s standing or reputation (hell VA reinstated his voting rights and law license years ago). There is no other reason to do this.

if Scooter had integrity left, I would thank him, but no thank you

And yet, for some totally fucked up reason, FBI and IC personnel lean heavily Republican/conservative. Given the record, you would think they might get a clue.

Scooter never had any integrity to being with.
Why else would he be Cheney’s bagman?

Trump is Ok with treason. That’s the message. Hope someone can say it loud to the American people.

And, to accept a pardon, is an implicit admission of guilt.

Joe Wilson just dropped the F bomb on msnbc describing Spanky as “trying to get as many fucking dollars as possible into his bank account”

A pardon is only that; it does not expunge his conviction from the record.

Trump doesn’t need to wait for a conviction…he can pardon anyone he wants for crimes they might have committed.

On September 8, 1974 President Gerald Ford granted Richard Nixon a full and unconditional pardon for any crimes he might have committed against the United States while president. Nixon was never convicted or impeached.

Joe Wilson said the same thing on MSNBC. Then he proceeded to drop an f-bomb talking about Trump grabbing as much f-ing money as he can before leaving office.

So…it’s alright to lie to the FBI because you don’t recognize them as a valid law enforcement agency. Got it.

Oh Scooter!
A pardon from Donald means you have sunk to the lowest depths!
Now you are even a joke and punchline - how does it feel to be used by such a vile disgusting thing as Donald…

So Donnie insists that Comey is a slime ball leaker who deserves to be locked up … cuz he says so, and yet he is pardoning a guy who was convicted of leaking the identity of a CIA operative, forcing her to end her career.
Makes sense.

Scooter Libby will be the next chief of staff in the WH.

Amen! You are so right. This is why Comey’s characterization of Don the Con as the head of the GOP crime family is so right on.

Absolutely no irony in Donnie calling Comey a Liar and Leaker the same day he pardons Scooter Libby for…Leaking and Lying.

Just thinking the same thing, except after reading Trump calling Comey a lying slimeball. What does the rank and file think of that and McCabe?

You may think you are now libby’s hero for revengeful spite, but let me add to that:

One day soon, your’e ass is going to belong to Mueller and the Justice Dept we employ to bury creeps like you.
I will gladly piss on your grave so you can have memories of the good times.
