Discussion: Trump Org Says Secret Service Is No Longer Leasing Space In Trump Tower

I’m sure they can spray paint the trailer in gauche gold to be consistent with the high decor standards of the DT clan.

Outstanding work, Dealmaster. You couldn’t even gouge the Secret Service.

Thank god it’s Friday!

As long as they stay close enough to take him into custody.

“President Donald Trump’s eponymous tower in Manhattan.”

Gotcha!

Clearly, your use of an elitist word like “eponymous” lays bare TPM’s cosmopolitan bias.

Just another reason why you progressives fail to connect with the noble-savage Trump voter.

Burn some coal and try again.

“Secret Service No Longer Leasing in Trump Tower”
Washington analysts say that the Agency’s decision to lease space in Indianapolis is just “part of a long-term plan” and “a coincidence”.
The White House did not respond to TPM’s request for comment.

It probably wasn’t worth their time to remove all the Russian installed wiring, cameras and mics, easier to just rent an RV and park it.

Hundred-Buck Trump’s building costs too much money. Smart government won’t rent there. Bad business!

I suspect this is only the first of multiple changes in the financial relationship between Mr. Trump/organization and government services.

Good.

Cuz a gold-plated trailer will really class up the place… wonder if it’s a double-wide.

I suspect that, if @emquiry was let loose in the comments section, she’d test the limits of all previous snark meters.

Eponymouses are very dangerous animals. Wonder why they let Trump have a whole tower of them?

Holy Jeebus!

Only way this day can get worse for Trump is if an undocumented immigrant kicks sand in his face and McDonalds refuses to serve him.

I got this off of the comments section on Eschaton.

On the backside, a secret service agent noted that it was a dive, bugs in the walls and cheap gold leaf flaking off and getting into the equipment.

God forbid Trump not try to squeeze money out of the Secret Service detail.

Gosh a confirmed sighting of an Atriot. :sunglasses:

I actually have to wonder, if this isn’t being driven by his increasing paranoia. We know he has long been suspicious of being recorded in Trump Towers (probably part of the reason he doesn’t visit there), and he has never been comfortable with having Secret Service details.

Has he reached the point where he think they are out to get him too?

That’s a good point - the secret service reports up thru the Dept of Homeland Sec and he surely must know at this point just how many tools they have at their disposal.

I also have to wonder if McMaster dumped Cohen-Watnik because he’s been tracking what Watnick has been accessing since he gained access to NSA intel.

Almost certainly. Cohen-Watnik had already had his hand slapped by McGahn for doing precisely that. And he continued anyway. That was why McMaster wanted him fired in the first place. The leaks I have seen since his firing, paint a picture of a man who was STILL continuing to go around the NSC, and the WH, to whisper in ears on the Hill. (ala Nunes).

Futhermore, if you look at the time frame that McGahn slapped his hand, it was at the same time that Priebus was going to the FBI trying to shut down all investigations and McGahn himself went to the FISA Court requesting all outstanding warrants on Trumpers (both were strongly rebuked). It seems pretty likely that folks like Cohen-Watnick were trying to access information related to the investigations, because at that point…nobody seemed to know exactly who or what was being investigated. (My own suspicion there has long been that the communications with the Russians was so widespread during the campaign, that they simply didn’t know what was known and what wasn’t and were afraid of spilling the beans about the wrong thing. Which seems to be pretty much what got Kushner, Sessions and even Flynn in trouble).
