“This state of affairs violates recognized ethical obligations and irreparably taints the Committee’s work,” Futerfas said.

Oh, so NOW they’re concerned about ethics. Freaking rich.

The company and its current and former employees “respectfully demand that the Committee cease and desist from all investigative or other activities adverse to the Company,” Futerfas said.

Or what?

You’re picking on someone your own size now, as we used to say on the playground. This Godzilla shit won’t work any more. GIVE UP.

So they dump the lawyer with the supposed conflict (Heavens! Hate to think there would be an ethical breach when dealing with the angelic Trump Organization!) and hire a new one with no conflict. It’s not like they would have trouble finding competent lawyers, unlike Fat Ass (do the names Jay Sekulow and Rudy Giuliquaaludi ring a bell?).

This will continue
They will get more desperate
They will appear to THE PUBLIC (the 60+ percent) to be so

In fact…these thingies will continue during the so-called Trump Campaign

The implicit threats include yanking all business from that firm and reporting Berke and others from that firm to the relevant Bar. They’ll also probably shop around for a judge they think will issue an injunction against the Committee. I know we want to get defensive here, but this was a horribly stupid and unforced error, and they should have known better.

There are certainly ways to partition lawyers’ work within a law firm though…sort of walling them off from each other etc…and it will be interesting to see if anything like that was done. I’m not usually one to go on about optics, but they’re bad here, even if we find out that this is…as is probably likely…somewhat overblown.

Indeed. There are more lawyers than cockroaches in D.C., not that anybody is any good at telling the difference. They both scurry about gathering an inordinate share of societal crumbs, mostly in the dark.

How does one respectfully demand anything?

Sneak peek at next week’s memo: “Democrats have a conflict of interest with Trump as they lost the 2016 election and they therefore cannot investigate anything to do with him”

LOL! Yeah, I’ll bet the fucking Mafia would just loooove to be able to use an excuse like!

So what’s the work around? Let Berke go and get someone else?

Yeah, why not? Is there some reason he’s uniquely necessary?

So wait… Donald Trump can own a zillion companies and run the country with zero conflicts buuuut…

Yes…better to get a preview of the acrobatics Trump’s lawyers are capable of (as well as judge-shopping). The thing which must be stressed is something along the lines of what Swalwell talked about last month.

We want to be fair. We don’t NEED to cheat.

Let’s get tight (Mueller-level tight) and go by the book. This snafu is better NOW than later.
