This is a companion rant to the long rant I did on the “Obama London Argle Bargle” story. Last night, I couldn’t stop myself from seeing how the Deplorables were responding to the shithole comments and went into the comments section of The Hill which inexplicably remains a favorite site of theirs. And they managed to live down to my worst expectations.
They got the signal loud and clear. Their Tremendous Leader has given them leave to be out and loud and proud with their racism, bring out all the old Klan ideology about the inferiority of Africans and other disfavored dark people (with the pseudo-science fake gloss about hey, I can’t be racist because I admit Asians are smarter than white people). No apologies, no shame.
As far as they’re concerned, the “Shithole Countries” comment was the messaging equivalent of the Nuremburg Laws. Open racism is state policy and morally acceptable again. And they are exalted, enthusiastically looking forward to dragging the whole goddamn nation back down into the sewer of institutionalized, normalized, open racism. Ah yes, racism, an essential component of the ideology of all totalitarian, authoritarian, you should pardon my expression, shitholes.
That’s where their heads are. And that’s the threat we need to be responding to, not sitting around mocking or being shocked and saddened by what the toxic bucket of goo the inner circle plops behind the Resolute Desk every day at 11:00 or so tweets.
If you are represented by a Republican, now is the time to write a letter shaming them for their complicity, telling them that if they have any hope of salvaging their party’s future, this is the last chance moment. Tell them it’s time to pick a side. And it’s time for us to hit the streets again, because I’ll be goddamned if I’m going to let these idiots drag the whole fucking nation back into the cesspit that so many people gave their lives to lift us out of.
Monday is MLK Day. I hope to god someone realizes we need another march on DC.
No one who was there has denied he said it, which means he said it. So now we will see how Huckabee handles this. My guess is she will say she wasn’t there and if her dear leader says he didn’t say it, then she believes him.
I have to say that I have always disliked memes/arguments that compare the modern immigration debate to what happened to the Native Americans. If modern immigrants were actually threatening to do to us what we did to the Native Americans then those that oppose immigration would have an actual legitimate argument for their opposition. Frankly they don’t deserve to be given that fig leaf, since there is absolutely no truth to the idea that modern immigrants are set to do anything of the sort.
He really is a two year old shithead striking out and blaming everything and everyone for his egregious behavior…and mouth. I don’t know who is MORE disgusting…DJT or the Cons that won’t stand up and condemn this bigoted BS.
Donald Trump has cancelled a visit to Britain next month to open the new US embassy in London, amid fears of mass protests.
The president claimed on Twitter that the reason for calling off the trip was his displeasure at Barack Obama having sold the current embassy for “peanuts” and built a replacement for $1bn (£750m). “Bad deal,” he wrote.
