The simplistic, childlike and blameless view of the world. If the issue is gun violence, just shrug your shoulders because it CANNOT be the fault of the gun. If the issue is immigration, get rid of them (whoever âthemâ represents)

Itâs been the problem of the GOP for a while now. Their base want simple solutions. Never mind what will happen if those simple solutions are followed through with. Never mind the crops rotting in the fields because Americans are too unwilling to do farm labor these days and getting rid of the âfernersâ is going to rob our farms of laborers. Never mind that Climate Change is destroying businesses left right and center so long as it doesnât impact our oil prices. And so forth.

Australia has strict gun laws and very few murders such as this, yet itâs legal for anyone there to own a weapon if you want to go through the rigorous steps to procure one.

After 35 people were killed in the 1996 Port Arthur Massacre they essentially put strong restrictions on the kind of guns that enable you to shoot people rapidly and continuously. They havenât had a mass shooting since.

As if anyone needed any further evidence to this effect, Trump here reveals himself as, at best, indifferent toward the welfare of anyone other than himself. Strange, isnât it, that so many of the people supporting Trumpâs candidacy are of the sort that, otherwise, he would denigrate as losers; but in him they nevertheless see a fellow travellerâthey, too, are at best indifferent toward anyone other than themselves. This sort of indifference may make for politically-strange bedfellows, but i suspect that if Trump were to become President, weâd see a lot of those folks getting kicked out of that bed.
