From “mad dog” to “sort of a Democrat.” I wonder what that phrase means. I’m taking it as ‘somewhat interested in impulse control, especially as regards military deployment.’
In Turmp’s world view, people are either loyal to him exclusively or a Democrat. Frankly, I’m OK with that.
Mattis is sort of a man and Trump is sort of a sissy.
One thing a sissy in charge can not stand is a woman or man who has done brave things that a sissy would never do.
Trumpp sounds very detached about the whole thing, but Defense is one of the minor functions of the Federal government.

The way Trump uses “Democrat” is both disturbing and indicative of the propagandizing effort put in by Fox, right-wing blogs and AM radio for a generation-plus. “Democrat” to the fascist Republican right has become a catch-all term for anything they might deem negative or, more accurately, “against the tribe” and more simply “enemy.”

Meantime, it would be really bad for the country if Mattis leaves, especially if Bolton has a say in his replacement. It’s also sad that Mattis ends a relatively distinguished career tainted by his time in this administration.
I hope he attempts to exonerate himself fully with a brutal tell all. But he may be too honorable to do that.
Me too. Used to be that the definition of “conservative” in american politics was: christian, pro-gun, pro-segregation, anti-gay, anti-abortion, pro-patriarchy. Now all that matters is how low are you willing to prostrate towards Trump, and how much of his ridiculous bullshit are you willing to repeat.

I would prefer that Mattis stick around. I base that on the observation that we’re not all dead yet.

I wish Stahl had got him on the record as to what exactly he means when he calls Mattis “sort of a Democrat”. It might be clarifying to hear the slander out in the open against the Maddog.
