Discussion for article #246742

How about the minute you heard he was supporting ou rather than saying you didn’t know him and then you couldn’t hear the questions because of your ear piece. That’s when

Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump said Tuesday he didn’t hesitate to disavow an endorsement from a former Ku Klux Klan leader but he needed to check out what ā€œgroupā€ he was associated with before responding.

ā€œNow, right after the program we’re talking about, and I thought it was clear, but we’re talking about groups, groups, groups, I do have to know the name of the group because who knows. They have to give me the name of the group,ā€ Trump, flanked by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, said in a press conference in Palm Beach, Florida.

I don’t know anything about David Duke, OK? I don’t know anything about what you’re even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists. So I don’t know. I mean, I don’t know — did he endorse me or what’s going on? Because I know nothing about David Duke**. I know nothing about white supremacists. And so you’re asking me a question that I’m supposed to be talking about people that I know nothing about.**
Tapper pushed back. Trump suggested Tapper send him a list of ā€œthe groupsā€ and he could research them. At which point, Trump said he would ā€œdisavow if I thought there was something wrong.ā€

ā€œThe Ku Klux Klan?ā€ Tapper asked.

ā€œIt would be very unfair,ā€ Trump continued talking over Tapper. ā€œSo give me a list of the groups and I’ll let you know.ā€

ā€œI’m just talking about David Duke and the Ku Klux Klan here,ā€ Tapper said.

ā€œHonestly, I don’t know David Duke,ā€ Trump said. ā€œI don’t believe I’ve ever met him, I’m pretty sure I didn’t meet him, and I just don’t know anything about him.ā€

Duke ran for governor of Louisiana in 1991 as a Republican, and Trump said at the time that President George H.W. Bush was right ā€œto come out againstā€ Duke’s campaign. Duke lost but he won a majority of the white vote — which Trump found troubling. ā€œI hate seeing what it represents,ā€ Trump said, referring to what he called the ā€œanger vote.ā€

In 2000, Trump considered running for the Reform Party presidential nomination but did not run because he said he did not want to be associated with Pat Buchanan, who had left the Republican Party to seek the Reform Party nomination, and David Duke, who supported Buchanan. Trump at the time called Duke ā€œa bigot, a racist, a problem.ā€

Donnie, you just have to be consistent when disavowing the KKK. You can’t just do it when it’s convenient :’(

Here goes

Three men, a priest, a politician and a millionaire all went up to you and told you

Fifteen years ago, that if this country didn’t do something about the minority ā€˜problem’, then bad things were going to happen.

Though all were speaking in code, you pretty much (via any two) that if you supported this type of rhetoric.

(Robert Byrd renounced the Klan ties more than once. Robert Byrd is dead, now Mike Huckabee and Donald Trump are alive, but hey: good genes are a blessing.)

Now back then, you renounce those views, because again, to be associated with that lot put you in that rotten sphere.

Now you decide to run for higher office

Though it’s smarter to say the subtle things about race and immigration, you go ā€˜bull in the China shop crazy’ and say what should get rejected.

It doesn’t and you become famous and popular, especially among the guys who you rejected.

However you get asked by a reporter to reject an endorsement from one of those guys.

Do you do it?

Yea or nay.

I’m going to ignore the peanut gallery, because no one can truthfully answer for you.

I’ll wait.

When you endorsed your racist landlord father’s scummy tactics, you must disavow.

When you question the citizenship of the first black president you must disavow.

When you questions the academic qualifications of America’s first black (and Ivy League educated) president, you must disavow.

When you launch your campaign by impugning hispanic immigrants as rapists, you must disavow.

When your supporters beat up immigrants and your response is that it great that your supporters are so enthusiastic, you must disavow.

When you propose to bar an entire group of people from the country solely based on their religion, you must disavow.

When you disseminate blatently false and racist crime statistics, you must disavow.

When your supporters beat up a black man during one of your rallies, and you respond, maybe he deserved it for interrupting my event, you must disavow.

When you pretend not to know who David Duke is, you must disavow.

Disavow. Disavow. Disavow. You scumbag.

Well wrong

That was from Annenberg, not the Tampa newspapers

Bringing to that pertinent q

If you were a political candidate, would have a problem accepting an endorsement from a separtist.
