A 1000% tariff on Donnie Tweets?
Better yet, a total embargo?
Trump Officially Announces Tariff Policy That Addresses âAssault On Our Countryâ.
Heâs slapping tariffs on borscht?
WASHINGTON (AP) â President Donald Trump is announcing steep tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum to address what he says is an âassault on our country.â
Thatâll show them Russians for meddling in our elections!
Cabbage or beet?
I was embarrassed about how he used steelworkers as props for this baloney. (Gives out free pens and chance for a photo in the Oval Office).
âAssaultâ is what you did to those women, Trump. Selling cheap steel and aluminum to US industry is not âassaultâ. Some steel workers in the US may not have crappy and dangerous jobs (which pay well as a result of the risk and crappiness involved), but those jobs ainât coming back because industry would hire robots to do those jobs instead. And if you hire robots you donât need tariffs because you can make the steel cheaper anyway.
But you also get a whole lot of other jobs which arenât as crappy and risking and probably pay at least as well making robots or other stuff out of cheaper steel and aluminum. The economy is funny about that stuff. Open markets are GOOD for most Americans, but not so good for crybabies and lazies.
An across the board tariff doesnât work. He should go after individual countries and companies that are dumping steel in the American market. If the American steel industry is as efficient as the steel workers claim they wonât have any problem competing straight up with anybody.
Would it help if Obama supported this decision? Would that bring this to an end?
Trump is the (((Michael Cohen))) of presidents. He could screw up cooking a hot dog.
He should be most troubled by the fact the market ISNâT tanking. Itâs Mr Market dissing the orange one. Mr Market donât tank for clowns.
Iâm sure all successful businessmen consider some other company coming in and undercutting your costs âassaultâ
Idiot.
The last I looked the markets were pretty flat. Apparently they are expecting him to exempt Mexico, Canada and probably the EU.
Does anyone remember a time when Presidents were expected to actually understand that things like International Trade, or, say National Health Insurance Law were complex subjects that resisted simple, (stupid) solutions?
I thought Dubya was an ignorant dummy totally unprepared for the Presidency. I think History shows that I wasnât wrong in that estimation, but, OMFG, I had no idea how much worse it could be.
âWe have meet the assaulter and he be you.â
Shame on the steelworkers
for giving labor the finger. Idiots! The next new steel job will be operating 500 robots.
They werenât props. The steelworkers have supported him throughout this tariff deal. He campaigned on the issue.
I listened to him spew that garbage and was sick to my stomach. So ignorant, so wrong, and so dangerous.
But heâs awesome, a fact he never fails to mention.
@stoy Nicolle Wallace said she interviewed people in Erie, Pa. They donât want their fathersâ old steel jobs. They want training for new jobs. But the economic repercussions for America because of his wrong-headed policy could be devastating.
What I want to know is how much, or what is he getting under the table for all the negotiating he plans to do with these different countries.
Interesting that when Putin bragged about being able to launch nuclear missiles at Florida, not a peep from Trump. But this constitutes âan assault on our country.â
lol ran into a new low huh?
We expected different and ended up with extreme different
Now we want it to disappear.
Dubyaâs polls climb higher by the hour.
From worse to freefall oblivion.
