Discussion: Trump: 'Not Satisfied With What I've Heard' About Khashoggi's Death

Unlike poor Mister Kashoggi, this story gives no indication of dying. Wow.

I’ll just conclude with this:

Howard Beale : “Why me?”
Voice: “Because you’re on television dummy!”

Interest would be intense anyway but the Turks are just being brutal about it.

That’s true and I still haven’t figured out why - there has to be an advantage in it for Erdogan. I don’t know what it is.

Middle Eastern politics. Kind of a tricky business.

Kushner was a hugely avid consumer of the daily briefings, even if Trump isn’t, and if he was feeding MBS information on dissidents as part of a quid pro quo and that led to this, well then.

This is the “hidden genius” theory.

donald, you hafta ask yourself… what is more important…speaking truth or lying to feel better about yourself. We know about the bone saw, we know about the body double and there is film of him (the body double) dumping Khashoggi’s clothes in a dumpster. And MBS says the killing was accidental. The two sets of data don’t relate to each other. One side is lying. Do you believe pictures and film or a flimsy lie? You know what the truth is but you don’t want to admit it do ya?

The Saudis were attempting to blame the Turks for his “disappearance”. Too bad for MBS that his fiancee was waiting outside.

That’s one of the reasons Erdogan is going balls out on this.

Add that to the fact that they’re regional rivals.

Erdogan’s torturing MBS with the drip…drip…drip release of the evidence.

Also torturing tRUmp’s MOB family.

Those Ottoman Turks hold a grudge. Plus, Turkey is closely aligned with Qatar.

If the moron’s heard of this (for sure he hasn’t read it) he’ll still say he has doubts. From NYT reporting

The team of Saudi agents that killed the Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul brought a body-double who resembled Mr. Khashoggi and wore his clothes as part of a cover-up, Turkish and Saudi officials said Monday.

Turkey leaked security camera video footage on Monday showing the look-alike strolling the streets of Istanbul shortly after Mr. Khashoggi had been killed inside the Saudi Consulate.

The impostor was easily recognizable in part because he wore different-colored shoes than Mr. Khashoggi was when he entered the consulate.

@rollinnolan Several thumbs up and many thanks to the journos who have awakened from their long slumber and are going after moron with all the tools a their disposal.

It’s probably the most exhausting effort a journo could ever undertake to challenge his lies because they’re rapid fire, off the cuff, could be fact checked with enough time and effort, but on the WH lawn on his way to a helicopter to a rally where he’ll feel the love is an uphill battle. I suspect he enjoys the gaggles for this reason; the press is purposefully put at a disadvantage

And this complexity is even before anyone questions the Saudi’s ongoing war in Yemen, which is really closer to genocide than war.

OT but too good not to share: Woody Guthrie fought facism and racism his entire career and that meant he was against Trump, the Fred version in this case.

Just to bring it a hair closer to topic, I doubt Woody would have been satisfied with anything he heard about or from Fred’s kid.

A’int Got No Home by Woodie Guthrie (ca 1950 version AKA The Ballad of Old Man Trump)

I suppose
Old Man Trump knows
Just how much
Racial Hate
he stirred up
In the bloodpot of human hearts
When he drawed
That color line
Here at his
Eighteen hundred family project

Beach Haven ain’t my home!
I just can’t pay this rent!
My money’s down the drain!
And my soul is badly bent!
Beach Haven looks like heaven
Where no black ones come to roam!
No, no, no! Old Man Trump!
Old Beach Haven ain’t my home!

It’s a crude tactic but that’s our current occupant—tell so many lies that nobody can keep up. It’s similar, or I guess identical, to the “Gish gallop,” cynically exploiting the simple fact that life is short and there’s only so much time.
