Eleven days ago John Cassidy at The New Yorker called the fantasy of the campaign and the reality of the transition âone of the biggest bait-and-switch operations in recent history.â And itâs only gotten worse. Normal Republican voters, the ones who fell in line amid all their famous misgivings, will probably see it clearly as it unfolds. But I ask youâwill the Trumpian base see it that soon? Will they ever see it at all? Theyâre the people another famous Republican is reputed to have said you can fool all of the time. Honest to God I wonder if they have the equipment to ever see it.
