Badly manipulated. I agree that they both had plans of manipulating him…seeing him as the proverbial hand holding a pen to sign whatever they put in front of him, but they both have been spectacularly bad at manipulating him.
I think a lot of it comes down to…these are not actually people Trump is comfortable with, personally. As much as he likes to crow about “his base”, he personally holds nothing but disdain for them. McConnell, born in Alabama and a Senator from Kentucky, is in many ways, the epitome of that. Ryan as a spineless, smarmy Randian, isn’t much better. The early and continuing battles with the RNC made him even more suspicious (paranoid) about dealing with either.
The reality is Trump is a child, emotionally…and in many ways, his mental activity are child like too. But he is a child that is keenly sensitive to being treated like one. He demands that he be treated as the greatest man that has ever existed. Ryan and McConnell both failed to get that read early on.
But I do agree with you, that there is no “Trump agenda”. There never was, and never will be beyond…self aggrandizement and grifting. Nor is that particular shocking for the candidate who quite literally had no positions beyond vague statements that “it will be the best/greatest thing ever”. He never provided any substance to anything…not even his beloved wall.

Its not the SS job to maintain his press calendar, or inform his aides when he is giving an interview.
And there are still some serious questions about just how much coverage the SS provides down at Mar-E-Largo. They’ve admitted they don’t vet the guests, they don’t maintain a security log, and much of the property security is still done by his private security firms.

There’s an odd comment trump made about the election. He says he went for Electoral college votes and so didn’t campaign in California, Texas, Florida, or New York. How the hell does that make sense considering the number of EC votes in this states?

I wonder how long it will take Donald’s voterbase to figure out they have been fooled ? The risc for violence from disappointed supporters towards him is not decreasing…

Exhibit #3 – Trump promising in front of cameras right before meeting that something big was coming.
Exhibit #4 – Trump admitting in front of cameras that he fired Comey because of Russian.
Exhibit #5 – Trump claiming in front of cameras before the election that it was “rigged”.
Exhibit #6 – Trump insisting in front of cameras that the US intelligence agencies are all wrong because Putin denies it.
Exhibit #7 – Trump right-hand-man Flynn pleading guilty to lying to FBI about Russia.
Exhibit #8 – Trump telling Comey to drop investigation of Flynn.

You should read the excerpted portion of the interview. I did last night and Jaysus he rambled, babbled,& could not stay on topic, He lurched between sounding like a mafia don and a child looking for praise. Chris Ruddy tried to throw him a life line at one point but Trump was undeterred. He was incoherent.

Anyone with an IQ point over average can see right through Trump and has always been able to see right through him. He is a shitty con man and manipulator. Unfortunately that leaves half of the country that can’t see through him.

Maybe we should let Trump finish out his four years and THEN send him AND HIS CADRE to jail.
Until then, he’ll either abuse pardon powers, or he’ll trade impeachment for a Pence pardon like Nixon did with Ford. Trump has no compunction about creating a constitutional crisis, he’s a CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS ON-THE-HOOF!
Let him cycle out of office, get control of all three branches again, and then take them to the woodshed.
As long as Trump holds the keys to that woodshed, he won’t allow himself to get spanked.
