This kind of normalization of deviancy has been a republican trademark for decades. We know they’re corrupt, we know they want to hurt non-rich people, we know they want to profit at the expense of future generations. So we discount that, and treat their bad behavior as normal. Then, if democrats fail to stop republicans from doing bad things, it’s the democrats’ fault.
