I’ve read a great deal about him, and things he’s said. I disagree, I think he’s fundamentally possessed of mediocre intelligence at best. Every off the record discussion with someone close leads me to believe he’s possibly functionally illiterate, as no one is ever quoted as observing him reading anything. And the few mentions of him staring at the page note in a matter of seconds he’s zoomed on to something else. Linguists have studied his speeches and posit he has a vocabulary usage that clocks in at but 2-300 words. I’d wager any rhetorical flourish involving complicated, multi-syllable, marginally arcane words would leave him baffled. Heavy readers are exposed to thousands of words, and forced to look them up and gain an understanding of their meaning to get through whatever work they’re digesting. He wouldn’t make it through ten pages of most of the more dense classics before getting totally lost.
Many people equate the ability to generate and accumulate wealth as an ipso facto indicator of high intelligence. “He must be smart, he’s rich!!” We’ve all heard that idiotic blathering from friends, co-workers and relatives. Trump is an imbecile. He’s had a lifetime of accountants, lawyers, advisers and property management specialists in his employ. He pays people to do his thinking and reading, and always has, for decades now. Sans the rich father he’d have spent his life digging ditches, so bereft of innate intelligence is he.

Tiffany always looks like a hostage. It feels like she was told, “you will support this and be believable, or we will destroy you.” Her answers are never really positive, when you think about them, they are the bare minimum. I feel sorry for her. Marla was right to get her out of there.

Well, yeah. Rural New Hampshire is not going to put Hillz in the White House. But you go tell pokey that. I had to bat out a freelance newspaper story and now I’m going to perform my ablutions and vote. Lovely day here in suburban Philly, perfect for turnout. And they resolved the transit strike in the city. I guess our own rural racists are just plain out of luck sadface.

I’ve heard this bit about 200-300 words before. Do you have a link for that? I’m really curious. Off the top of my head I’d say that a vocabulary of that size would usually be associated with someone of an IQ about 70. That’s a TINY set of words.

Yeah, I saw the “recoil in horror” move this summer, and the next week I went in again the the Ivana rack was gone (don’t know if it was the clothes or just the sign.)

I agree, we were talking about a poster named pokeyoakey, not Trump. I don’t think Trump is below-average intelligence at all. He probably started out bright-normal, no higher. He’s never shown signs of any kind of serious intellectual achievement. But he did get through Wharton and graduated, so there’s that. That also suggests he didn’t start out life with any severe kind of ADHD. His thinking’s a mess now, but you’d think advancing mental illness could account for most of that—impulsivity, inability to concentrate.
Pokeyoakey, now, he’s a sketch. You can usually predict how Trump will react to things. Not Pokey, he’s all over the place.

They don’t say that’s the totality of his vocabulary, but the extent of his usage in speeches they studied. You can count on one hand the adjectives he uses when wanting to express that something is extremely impressive or pleasing. Beautiful. Tremendous. Amazing. Terrific. Great. That’s about it. A small book could be filled with adjectives to describe those themes. Trump employs a number you can count on one hand. His skills as an orator, a speaker, someone wanting to express an idea in a unique and interesting manner, are pathetic.

Naaah. Trump’s son and spox would have Drama Queened this into “he survived yet ANOTHER r assassination attempt” when he even went to exercise his right to vote. NYers aint gonna give him that opportunity. But it was like Marie Antoinette being shocked to find out that it wasnt cheers all around when he drove up in his two black Escalades and cut in front of the line around the block to waltz in and vote.
