Discussion: Trump Jr. Pokes Fun At Blasey Ford’s ‘Selective Fear Of Flying’

I really do hope they try to make this a thing. Fear of flying is a very common thing, and people who have that fear still are able to fly but often try to avoid it if possible.

I can’t adequately express how much Jr’s whole being makes me ill.

A lot of people are afraid of flying, but they do it because they must.

Well, Little Donald, its kind of like you and your Dad’s selective inability to tell the truth. It comes and goes.

Roughly 25% of,people have a fear of flying. Yet, many of these people do. It is a complicated syndrome primarily based in fear and/or lack of control, etc.

Stupid line of questioning.

Can we ask Kavanaugh if he has a fear of drinking, blacking out, assaulting women and getting caught? I’m pretty convinced that less than 25% of Americans have this fear.

I’m no proctologist, either, but I still know an asshole when I see one.

Wait until he has to share a jail shower with Jamaal and Hay-sus, see Denzel and Clive Owen phone talk in Spike Lee’s Inside Man.

I have a profound fear of flying, but it’s not a phobia. So does my daughter who always tries to arrange, often by paying extra, to get a seat over the wing roots - probably the sturdiest part of the aircraft. Apart from folks with true phobias, people find ways to deal and compensate.

Oh, and if gotcha is all you’ve got, you’ve got nothing. I think I detest Mango minor more than Mango major.

That’s a pretty tough call. It’s like trying to decide which kind of crap stinks more.

This isn’t “poking fun”. It is harassment, and vile at that.

I am afraid to fly. I have flown six times in the last 20 years, all for work. I cannot stomach flying when it is not absolutely necessary (e.g. vacation) and not even sometimes when it is. I flew twice to Europe. At least on the way over I could mostly sleep. One time the commuter leg flew through a nasty thunderstorm.

My wife has a dream of us going to Europe for vacation. If she understood my explanation of how painful flying is to me, she would never talk about it again. I only mention that to illustrate how difficult it is for someone who doesn’t experience it to understand how it feels, and for someone who does experience it to describe the feeling.

Fear of flying and yet being motivated to do it anyhow isn’t a sign of dishonesty as a character trait, it’s a sign of courage as a character trait.

I had a friend in the 82nd Airborne Division who was terrified of flying, but jumped with me anyway because “Being all that he could be” meant to him that he had to be in control of his fears instead of letting them control him.

He may not be an expert in psychiatry OR vacation but he probably is when it comes to collusion.

Well, that didn’t take long!
