Dude, we knew he was cheap. He’s given something like 800 bucks to charity in his entire miserable life. It’s one of the reasons he was always sneered at among affluent New Yorkers—you’re expected to contribute to each others’ causes, and he never did. He hustles foundation money and spends it on himself. We knew he was a cheap, miserly person obsessed with money and utterly uncaring about any other human being including, sadly, the younger non-loathsome and somewhat pitiable you.
