Trump IS going to force the other candidates, particularly JEB, to respond to him. He won’t tolerate being ignored, and attacking family is something he considers fair game. None of the Reagan’s 11th Commandment about not speaking ill of other republicans for this guy. It’s open season on everything as far as he is concerned. Truly the unrestrained Id of the GOP.

I have to wonder if this is a tactic to make the other GOP hopefuls look sane? I remember hearing comments before Bridgegate about how Christy was such a ‘moderate’ in the GOP or how Jeb was a successful governor for Florida. Anyone paying attention knows that’s a bunch of horseshit, but here’s Trump making them seem temperate and now the other candidates have a chance to say he’s such a meanie.

My only worry here is that Trump (the candidate) will implode too quickly, before he has had a chance to turn the GOP nomination race into the ugly, no holds-barred war of attrition and douchebaggery it deservedly should be.

Amazing. Just amazing!

I’m old enough to remember when there was such a thing as “GOP leadership” that would NEVER have tolerated this kind of upfront backstabbing of other candidates. Now, as Charlie Pierce pointed out, there really is no such thing as “GOP leadership” to put an end to this or stop it before it even starts. Not too sure what Rinse My Prius thinks his job consists of.

This is bad news for JEB because not only is he apparently not an automatic frontrunner, he also doesn’t have a political party to fight for him as a surrogate.
