This is not surprising. Apparently, breaking the law and being supported by the criminal Bundy family can get you a pardon by this President. As someone who followed this case, the Hammonds did not have wide supportin the West for the arsons. They endangered fire fighters camped in the area and others. The Bundy occupation of MWLR divided the community of Burns, Oregon. What their case should’ve sparked was a conversation and legislation regarding mandatory minimum sentences. But sadly, it did not. They went back to prison because of those laws. Not a word about that in Trump’s pardon.

Trump likes to revel in attention. But he is bad at scheduling it. He seemingly would want to milk the afterglow of the Kavanaugh nom. He has a trip to Europe where he’ll be dressing down and abusing everyone in sight, something he loves to do. Then it’s off to fellate Putin. Why the hell these pardons couldn’t wait to distract from something negative, as opposed to events Trump certainly thinks will benefit him, is a puzzle.
