Discussion: Trump Is Still Tweeting About NFL Players' Protests

The usual criterion is posing a danger to yourself or others. Pretty much a slam-dunk.

The man is deranged. Period. In the Editor’s column, Josh talks about how he was ranting at his Monday night dinner with the ‘grassroots’ and calls it winning. We nailed Charlie Sheen to the wall and called him mentally ill when he pulled this crap…but we (or some) give this ahole a PASS when he does the same thing? He is willing to throw PR to the wolves because it’s their FAULT??? WHen Congress uses them as a petrie dish? GIVE ME A BREAK!!!

Trump’s a big orange wrecking ball, and no building is safe when he starts swinging…

His bend-the-knee whining sounds hollow, considering he’s been on his knees for Putin since long before his election.

Trump’s trashing the flag, the nation and the White House, all in one long act of careless, cloying celebrity gone horribly awry.

Democracy is an innocent… naive and fledgling compared to age-old, jaded celebrity, and the crossover effect has been devastating to our young electoral process.

Trump:“I’ll tweeter anything to NOT talk about Russia. Believe me.”

Welp, Donnie, it actually would be presidential of you to help get aid to PUERTO RICO! If you had a lick of sense you’d mobilize Navy assets and help that Island. After all they’re only American Citizens…some of whom may have voted for you.

But you won’t because your goddamned ego is bruised/

Good to see Dear Leader is taking time to look up the overnights to get the ratings every day. Hey Donny, how did The Big Bang Theory do last night?

Ratings for NFL football are way down except before game starts,
when people tune in to see whether or not our country will be
disrespected!
…
Donnie, you disrespected America when you dodged the draft five times, the last being because of phantom bone spurs in your widdle footie what hurted you. I’ll trade you my bone spurs in my neck which are no phantom for yours. Let’s us say it in plain language:

Donald J. Trump is a goddamned coward.
And that’s not snark folks

Q: Is it a great backlash or the greatest backlash?

Someone’s fantasy football team must have lost! Whats the matter mr president did you start Carr?

I’m joking of course. Fielding a winning fantasy lineup requires much more focus and management skills than this continual embarassment displays.

Not only is Mad Donald still tweeting about it, but he regards his having launched this whole controversy as a master stroke for the Master Race, and this is what his operatives are telling him–indeed, it’s why Bannon and Miller told him to do it in the first place.

It’s all part of the Sean Trende White Republican Power theory of consolidating the white vote and upping it from its traditional 60% Republican bloc vote (where it’s been since the civil rights breakthroughs of the 1960s and the GOP’s swift, ugly, shameless Southern strategy) up to a 70% Republican bloc vote.

Sean Trende believes a non-stop appeal to white paranoia, white rage, and white solidarity will do the trick.

It’s vital that Republicans up their white nationalist game, persuading more and more white voters to vote based on skin color and racial hatred alone, because–as we saw this week with Graham Cassidy–actual Republican policies no longer cut it even with their own voters: whereas inflammatory race hatred and the promise of official brutality and apartheid play very well indeed.

Or so their calculation seems to be.

The biggest thing to beware of right now: listening to the white pundits who are rushing to print with cautions that this is “playing into the Republicans’ hands, uh-oh, uh-oh, everybody be quiet and play nice now or else oooooh, look out! Let’s just stop talking about these things! No more “identity politics,” because we’ve decided that only Republicans should be allowed to play those! Hush, everybody! Danger, danger, danger!”

No more of that, please. That’s the mentality that allowed the Republicans to take over in a steady, ugly, dark-money-funded, propaganda-fueled juggernaut from the 1980s to the catastrophe of last year’s Republican sweep of the federal government.

They never stopped, but liberals, moderates, Democrats, progressives, all went silent and scared, tried not to be too “controversial,” worried about how those “white swing voters” would react, and allowed appalling things to happen without speaking out.

Democrats, for instance, allowed the right’s propaganda machine to take down the invaluable ACORN, which was registering minority voters and getting them to the polls: so eager not to seem “controversial” that they didn’t fight back against what turned out to be a Gestapo level torrent of right wing Big Lies.

President Obama fired Shirley Sherrod because he didn’t want to fight back against Andrew Breitbart’s ugly agitprop. He should have fought back, because it was all filthy Republican lies.

The women’s movement fell apart because nobody wanted to look like they were “for” abortion: and the reactionary theocratic wing of the Republican Party now dominates both the dialogue and the actual laws on contraception and birth control.

So don’t listen to anyone who tells you “danger, danger, hush, silence, stop taking principled stands or you’ll lose the Reagan Democrats!” For one thing, they’re already lost. For another, they’re not worth having, and they never were. They vote for Republicans because they hate black people.

For a third, in the attempt to woo them back, you lose tens of millions of decent Americans who would stand with you, if you only weren’t competing with the GOP for the worst of the malicious, ignorant, self-centered, white-identitarian voters in this sad old land. And those tens of millions are the last fragile hope the country really has.

If Charlie Sheen had been a Republican president, the MSM would have framed him as saavy, authentic guy, with a natural genius for high energy strategic thinking.

I was just thinking that last night. He’s just going to go entirely too far to the point where even his racist base can’t deny it. They’ll just excuse it, but the perpetual normalizers in the media, Congress, and in our daily lives will be forced to deal with it.

Next time Kelly says something they need to walk back, Trump will say Kelly has his total confidence. Then the next time after that, Kelly’s a free man again.

Has Trump ever tweeted something that was helpful, not divisive, not self-serving, not misleading? Asking for a friend.

Obviously his rants against NFL black guys must have been better pleasing his fans than against white guys like McCain.

Stimulus, response. Response, stimulus.

Josh passed on one of the most disgusting Tweets by the Draft-dodger in Chief:
Posting a pic of Pat Tillman and saying Tillman died for Trump’s anthem war.
Tillman’s widow responds:

“The very action of self-expression and the freedom to speak from one’s heart—no matter those views—is what Pat and so many other Americans have given their lives for,” Marie Tillman said. “Pat’s service, along with that of every man and woman’s service, should never be politicized in a way that divides us."
