I believe it was the US that helped overthrow their democratically elected leader back in the fifties. We made sure Saddam was supplied with chemical weapons and satellite intelligence in order to kill as many Iranians as possible with both chemical and conventional weapons in the Iraq/Iran war. We also started the Iraq war in 2003 when we had no valid reason for doing so. No one has caused as much death and chaos in the Middle East as we have.
