Discussion: Trump: Iran Deal Is 'Terrible,' Because 'Persians Are Great Negotiators' (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #238307

Has anyone ever heard of anyone, but Trump, saying Trump is the world’s greatest negotiator?

Yup, the Persians are great negotiators. Just look at the rug they sold me!

Why doesn’t he prove he can do better by going to Tehran and coming home with a deal? I’ll chip in for a 1-way ticket.

Well, if we’re using the “they tell me” standard he does, no. I read an article the other day that noted in passing that he’s not even at the top among NYC-based real-estate developers—one list had him around number 14. He’s like Liberace, who was wildly successful at being a celebrity but was never actually much of a piano player.

Trump would have negotiated a very classy deal. The negotiators would have signed it with gold pens, which, as you know, are very classy. Second, no Mexicans would have been allowed in the room. And finally, all the aides would be former Miss America contestants…but only recent ones of course.

And the only enforcement clause required would be his personal guarantee.

Yeah, but those Iranians suck!

Donald Trump is an ugly person, inside and out.

So, once again the great narcissist pretends to know something about a matter in which he is clueless.Only in America could this shameless farce play out under the pretext that what Trump says is serious or relevant.

If Persianns are such “great negotiators,” how does that explain the debacle between Iran under Mossadegh, the country prime minister from in the 1950s, and the British Goverment over the oil rights in Iran?

The Anglo-Iranian Oil Company would offer an 11 % increase in revenue sharing with Iran; Mossadegh asked for 50 percent and when the Brits said no, he nationalized the oil company.

That action led to to a CIA coup against the Mossadegh, which estabished the Shah of Iran. Adn we all know how that turned out.

So THIS is what it would be like if I let stereotypes, ignorance, and bigotry rule absolutely every single thing that I did in my life. Interesting.

… and why do Trump’s ramblings remind me of my 70 year old father? … sigh… Truly, Trump is the Republican ID personified.

Trump has said that the Chinese are great negotiators who have killed the US on deals for years. China is part of the 5 +1, negotiating on our side against Iran. So, is Trump lying about the Chinese or is he lying about the Persians?

Yes.

“We are making a terrible deal,” Trump told CNN in a sit-down interview that the channel has aired in pieces throughout this week.

Kind of like the pieces my dogs leave in the backyard for me to pick up every morning.

Trump in that video with Anderson Cooper said “ISIS has money. They’re renovating a hotel for Pete’s sake!!”
Funny how a hotel matters to this whacky man.
And he said he’d take away ISIS’ money by bombing Iraq’s oil fields. The guy has no deep critical thinking ability in my opinion.
Then he says Iranians are better negotiators. On that he’s right BUT (and it’s a large but) just because they know how to bargain does not automatically mean they have the best deal. The point is to prevent them getting a nuke. Having no deal because they’re “better bargainers” is s stupid reason to have no deal. And lastly he calls himself a great negotiator. Why didn’t he offer his services? Or at least privately call up Obama and school him on how to negotiate instead of tossing turd bombs from the safe sidelines?

I worked with an Iranian post doc when I was a grad student. Perhaps if I looked him up he could help me negotiate a great deal on a new car and a cruise trip to the Andaman Islands.

The art of negotiation has to do with understanding the interactions of leverage and power, hard vs. soft.

Ethnicity, per se, has nothing to do with it, except to the extent that one learns useful concepts from an ethnic CULTURE. America has its own unique culture when it comes to The Art of the Deal, you know.

It’s crazy that you’re calling your own people a bunch of babes in the woods when you say other cultures are smarter about scheming, using leverage and manipulating others. If there’s anything Americans know something about, it’s power, baby.
