Discussion: Trump Insults Belie His Long-Held Fear That Biden Could Beat Him

When Trump didn’t insult Pelosi, people said he was afraid of her.
When he insulted Biden, people said he’s afraid of him.
So, which one is it? Please get your thoughts straight! Provide some substances instead of guessing!

You know, if we were to simply impeach the motherf***er, any nominee would have the wind and his or her backs and whack him by 8 to 10 points.

Biden will probably sink himself. His planned comedy stand-up tour, featuring material from his “Touchy-Feely Harrassment” files, might play well in some venues, but overall should land with a thud.

And Rump is correct in being afraid of Biden in certain areas. Aside from the fact that Rump’s approval rate is down in several “swing” States, Biden can win over people in the middle of the country in a way that Rump can’t.

I did not want Joe Biden to enter the race for many reasons: primarily because I don’t think he is a good candidate. However, his opening statement was powerful and he would be a breath of fresh air compared to Mr. Trump. I’m tempted to agree with steviedee111 that Mr. Biden will probably self-destruct. However, if he can stay in the top 3 and avoid any major gaffes for the next 3 months he might have a good shot.

Headline right now on HuffPo.

“Biden Day 1: Bad”

He’ll be reacting to most anything in a defensive manner for awhile.

Another ultimate insider who Trump will outflank on the right and the left, just like he did Hillary. Have we learned nothing from 2016?

Holding itvyogwther for 3 months is one thing, but a year and a half is another.

My general position is who cares what Trump thinks? There is nothing useful to be gleaned from trying to guess Donnie’s supposed political instincts. He is no political genius (or really any kind of genius) and the entertainment value wore off on me a long time ago. (Of course, I could also never stomach so much as a single full episode of The Apprentice.)

Now there’s an unbiased source. Who is HuffPo supporting for 2020?

My son and I used to have entire conversations with lines from Seinfeld.

Hard to say at the moment, but their current list of blurbs doesn’t seem to reveal the pro-Biden leaning of many other “news” sites. Their heart may currently reside elsewhere.

Prior to 2015, I’d agree completely. But, after Rump, the notion of gaffes has taken on a different form. I think Rump has sort of redefined the concept completely so I’m not that worried about Biden saying something weird.

I know it does. I stopped reading that rag after their lousy coverage of the 2008 nominating race. Politico too.

Trump is always afraid. It’s his default setting. It is simply a matter of how he reacts to his fear in various settings.

I sometimes look over the headlines, and it is occasionaly interesting for me to see who passes for a celebrity these days (since I don’t really follow pop culture). (I frequently have to use Google to get some idea of who these rather generic and utterly exchangeable people are.) Politico is sometimes amusing, to see what a right-of-center twist looks like, and sometimes Thehill. (I don’t have the stomach for the real conservative sites, and I don’t know that my computer could survive the encounter.)
