Trump changes stance on _____________. In other news, the sun is still hot and puppies are adorable.

“I don’t think it’s a softening,” Trump told CNN’s Anderson Cooper when the host noted that Trump actually said there could be a “softening” of his policy on deportation. “I’ve had people say it’s a hardening, actually.”

If you soften your stance, but you’re really, really committed to that softening, then you are hardening on the softening.
I learned this at Trump University.

Trump launched into a rant about building a wall and said that he will give more details on his plan in a week.

That press conference will be between the days of August 31st and September 2nd.

Cooper tried to clarify whether Trump will deport undocumented immigrants who have not committed a crime.

“We’re going to see what happens when we strengthen up our border.” Trump replied. "But there is a very good chance the answer could be yes. We’re going to see what happens.”

At one point, Cooper pointed out to Trump that his comments reflect former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush’s immigration policy, noting that Bush was mocked for saying the U.S. cannot deport all undocumented immigrants.

“I don’t know anything about Jeb Bush. He wasn’t building a wall,” Trump said. He later added that he wants “to see what’s going to happen” and that he will "deport many people.”

“and just like that, the long awaited Trump pivot was killed.”

He’s got 10 days until the Priebus deadline for taking a lead in the polls, right?

pretty much

and with that ‘pivot’ pretty much kaput, Conway must be feeling Sisyphean right now.

Trump is better at discombobulating his staff than taking on Clinton.

Well at least it’s more substantive than the GOP’s Obamacare replacement plan.

Hard or soft, there’s just not a lot there.

Though he was clearly unaware of it, Hannity was involved in a version of ‘good cop/bad cop’ this week. Maddow was the good cop as it relates to that Conway interview. Trump was stuck with Hanitty (bad cop) and though Sean was still Sean, Trump contradicted his manager on this subject.

This week was maybe one of a few opportunities for Trump to get ‘congeniality points’ from the ‘judges’ (the undecided. soccer moms, etc), before the remainder of those groups opinions start to cement on who they want as president.

With the Cooper interview recap in the books, he has next week to be a ‘hero’ to those who are now handcuffed to him (Preibus), because Sept. 2nd is the start of the Labor Day weekend and the thought after that will probably be: will he make those debates? (He will)

Funny you should ask! I get flyers all the time for Trump University class reunions! Attendance requires a nominal fee. Sad to say, I lost all my money going to Trump University.
