‘Patient X’ still doesn’t have an idea about what a blind trust is.

Trump is focused on his own profits and will use the presidency for that purpose.

The kids will run the business and they’ll all meet with Donald for frequent family bonding events. Of course no business decisions/plans/quid pro quo will be discussed…just the quality of the foie gras.

I’ll say! I read it and thought, huh? Whose business is Trump leaving?

Prediction: he wont’ release the text of the “legal documents” separating him from his business interests.

Nor will he release his tax returns.

Two thoughts. First, somebody has managed to get through his thick skull that he could find himself in a heap o’trouble if he continues as he has in the past so…

He’ll make a big show of signing paperwork that appears to take him out of the mix, then, presto-chango! back-stage his kiddies are following his instructions to the letter.

Leaving his businesses under his children’s control means bumpkus. If they are in and out of the White House, there is nothing to stop discussions and strategies. Their fate is so intricately tied to daddy’s brand that separating them entirely from the business decisions is the only way to end conflicst of interest.

He’s leaving his businesses to three people that are officially designated as members of the executive committee in charge of transitioning him to the Presidency.

Donald ‘Pig’ Trump is just crapping out more pigshit. He is ruled by greed and absolute self-interest. Consider this latest claim as just another lie. No matter what optic he sets up, he will already have decided how to get around it.

Classic maneuver.

Responsible Citizens: You have to do X because the law and precedent and common decency

Trump: I will do Y, which kind of looks like X but leaves me with more money and the possibility to still do the stuff the law and precedent and common sense say I shouldn’t be able to do. Because I’m a great businessman, and I work the system to my advantage.

Responsible Citizens: But Y is still against the law and precedent and common decency

[ … Fades off into the distance and out of the public consciousness … ]

[Election]

Trump: Hmm. On further consideration, I am the President so I am the law. No Y.

Responsible Citizens: But the law and precedent and common decency require X.

Trump: Fine, have it your way. I don’t have to, but to show you how great and magnanimous a king I am, I will give you Y just to make you happy. The country is worth it!

Will we leave it at that again?

Trump is still violating the spirit if not the letter of the law. The arrangement he had previously proposed was to transfer all control of his businesses to his children, which still appears to be the proposal, which still leaves him with a huge corruption machine given that (1) these are his heirs to whom he would be leaving the businesses anyway, (2) these people are intimately involved with his own personal affairs and they have shown absolutely no ability to compartmentalize (Trump Foundation used for personal business affairs etc), (3) these people are also intimately involved with picking his staffers who are directly responsible for running the state, (4) Trump still knows what benefits his companies, which conveniently all have his name in 36-point-all-caps emblazoned on them, gilded in gold leaf.

The Trump Corruption Machine stays intact. He just makes it a little harder for prosecutors to tie to him personally, allowing it to operate more openly and more brazenly but no less corruptly. This would be the death of any normal politician, but we accept it because “businessman”?

“…I feel it is visually important, as President, to in no way have a conflict of interest with my various businesses…”

I’m wondering if that’s a typo. Did he mean to type “vitally”, or does he really think that just having the appearance of no involvement with the running of the business is the important thing?

Sure, that’ll work just great. Anyone dealing with the direct family of a POTUS wouldn’t feel any pressure to bow down to their demands because, you know, they’re just “the kids”.

This is pure bullsh*t and doesn’t pass any smell test that doesn’t conclude it stinks!

Or, what a ‘conflict of interest’ is.

This is bullshit.
Enjoy your conman America, because you certainly won’t have anything resembling a ‘President of the United States of America’ for the next four years.
