Between this and yesterdayās easing of sanctions one has to wonder whether Trumpās puppeteer has realized time is short and itās henceforth burner mode for Agent Orange.
So Trump allies and lackeys? Do you still believe that there was no collusion? General Mattis, do you still believe it was a good idea to ally with this man for the purpose of a few more hundreds of billion to the Military-Industrial Complex, and a nice retirement job for you?
This is a disastrous decision for US foreign policy on multiple levels. Letās be clear about what this is. Itās a payoff to Putin. Syria was on Putinās wish list throughout 2016. The first dividends for Putin from Trumpās election came in Syria where he had waited out Obama/Kerry and then within 2 weeks after Trumpās win, moved immediately to flatten Aleppo.
There are conservatives out there who are trying to equate this with Obama leaving Iraq, which is wrong on multiple levels and hides what this is really about. This is the Manchurian President fulfilling the orders of the puppet master. This is treason unfolding in broad daylight.

Blind, Burrowing Amphibian Species Named After Donald Trump For a Special Reason
The naming choice highlights the presidentās dismal approval ratings worldwide and is clearly designed to belittle him. And yet, it is further evidence that so much now revolves around Trump, from āMatildaā statues to Barbra Streisand torch songs, as the former reality TV star has become a ubiquitous global symbol.
Wondering if there was more to the Turkey mishegas than just Flynn making money. Trump usually does what Fox says, but now Erdogan is calling the shots?
Thereās been a lot of talk that, almost uniquely among high-ranking officials, Mattis has remained untainted by Trumpās Midas shit-finger. I have agreed with that talk in the past and present tense. But I think this is the Rubicon. Mattis must resign.
This. 100%. Was going to say essentially the same thing. BLOTUS isnāt listening to Mattis or anyone else, heās backed into multiple corners and Vlad is now demanding the quo for the quid of getting him installed in the WH while thereās still time.
Itās utterly transparent and desperate but I can only imagine the kompromat Vlad has on this POS. So how did the final word come down? Maybe Kush was successful in setting up that āback channelā and somehow I think it runs thru the Saudis.
As usual, @khyber900 says it much better

I suspect the other side of this coin was a telephone call with the Sawdees.

If innocent military pilots wouldnāt die in the attempt, Iād be all for it.
One source who spoke to the Post said the decision was a āclear rebukeā ā in the Postās words ā of Mattis, who Trump has increasingly ostracized in recent months.

And instead followed the wishes of his buddy Pootinā.
I wish this were true with Dolt 45 going there. In order to save others lives, perhaps the plane could be on automatic pilot with secret service agents and others who could bail before it takes off.
Iām kind of divided about this one. Yes, Syria has devolved into a chaotic hell in which a brutal dictator is murdering his own people. Yes, our traditional allies, the Kurds, will be trapped between the Turkish government and the Syrians, and maybe ISIS can make a comeback.
But I canāt help but feel, especially in light of the GOP response, that weāre headed down the road of āwe canāt leave or we dishonor the sacrifice of so many fine Americansā quagmire thatās gotten us stuck so many other places.
I wonder also about the Khashoggi affair. It seems pretty clear that Erdogan never made public everything he knows. Could he have anything he could leverage Trump with? I would guess the answer is yes. At the least, I think Trump was presented with facts linking Saudis to his death at a time that Trump was casting doubts on it. Also, would the Saudis dare to kill a US resident (even a Saudi citizen) without tacit approval from the US government? Maybeābut Iām not so sure.
Trump has given Putin his Christmas gift early this year. In one ābrilliantā stroke, he helps the Russians and Turks, promotes further instability in the region, reduces our influence in a key part of the world, and undermines worldwide confidence in U.S. reliability as an ally. This is just vastly incompetent (and probably corrupt) on a scale that I never thought to see from a U.S. president.
