Sure, part pettiness, part malice, but remember: this is the “You’re fired” guy who actually has his aides announce firings, or does the job via tweet, or via cable news. This is the tough guy who was going to stare down America’s enemies but caves at the approach of a Putin or a Kim.
Now he’s been disparaging Obama, a real man and a real leader, for years, trying to dismantle his legacy, and resenting his popularity–and somehow he prefers not to confront him now.

I believe PBO would take the call if one was offered because he’s classy, dignified, and would try to bring the country together. Trump, on the other hand, would never and will never make this call, especially before the election, because his whole strategy is to demonize Democrats and their supporters. Also, after all he’s said about Obama, he wouldn’t dare talk to him face to face or even phone to phone.
Deep down, he knows he’s a piece of shit in Obama’s loafers.
