"Donald Trump on Thursday night said that he had a “great meeting” with
House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) earlier in the day and that he does not
have a problem slowly winning Ryan’s support. "
A little expansion from a unexpected source:
“Megyn Kelly had a bone or two to pick with the way her network’s
competitors covered Donald Trump’s ballyhooed meeting with House Speaker
Paul Ryan and Republican leaders on Thursday.”

“…if the cracks can’t be mended, so be it. I’ll have chef whip up an omelet. A classy omelet.”
Latest episode of GOP’s Slow Walk to Oblivion
He may not mind a slow process but he’s got from now until October 31 to even come close to some sort of unification within the Party. Which isn’t gonna happen. And, at the end of the day, as so many have already said, Ryan gets to live with the consequences while Rump walks away a loser and rails about the system being rigged.
Slow indeed and fruitless to some extent:
His policy: aggravate Mexico.
His policy: aggravate China.
His policy: aggravate the world.
In all the things Trump feels strongly about, what’s in it for Americans besides low wages, high prices, and war?
Let us count the reasons Trump is being all reasonable and acknowledging the complexity of life and importance of others’ feelings. Let’s start counting, but get a soda and a snack first, because we’re not going to stop counting until we get to a billion. That’s how many Republican Party donor dollars it will take for Donald to self-fund the campaign he’s been mostly self-funding with loans to himself, small donations from chumps, and $2 billion worth of so-called “free media.” Now he needs serious cash to run a real campaign, and the GOP has it. (He himself is only worth three or four billion tops, nobody can say how much of it liquid, and it might be much less, and he doesn’t like to spend it anyway when he can get other people to pay.) And suddenly the system isn’t so rigged and the D.C. establishment isn’t so awful and his positions aren’t quite so extreme and everything is negotiable and that’s why pencils have erasers and so forth.
Well it can’t be said often enough that Paul Ryan supports Donald Trump simply by failing to resign. But Ryan’s beef with Rump is twofold.
One, The Rump is a loud, proud, entitled pig, whose offensive and embarrassing insult comic routine seems to genuinely offend Ryan, in addition to threatening his majority.
Two, The Rump has shown no appetite whatsoever for the deep spending cuts to basically everything, that are lurking in Ryan’s fraudulent budget blueprints. The number words that Paul Ryan speaks have given him the illusion of seriousness, but the numbers add up to basically no money for nothing or other! His values and priorities are so abhorrent that not even most House Republicans want to gut that much spending that deeply. That’s why the previous Speaker never even scheduled votes on the regular appropriations bills! Republicans don’t even want to vote on it, and The Rump sure doesn’t either.
He’s NUTS!
A “slow process.” Until, say, December?
That right there is the real crux of the matter and is the actual issue that the GOP has with their front runner. He isn’t committed to them, there is no ring on their finger, no pre-nup in place. People that have spent 40-50+ years supporting the GOP and conservatism, have a real issue with a guy who became a conservative a year ago and, regardless of what pans out in November, will walk away from the party when its over.
Those concerns are made even worse, because his track record on issues over the past 30 years has been all over the place. There is not one single GOP plank that anyone can point to and say “Trump has always supported that”. Not abortions, not taxes, not healthcare, not the military…nothing.
We had paranoia and presidential power with Nixon,Reagan, and the Bush crime family, and we got Watergate, Iran-Contra, and Iraq.
When will this nightmare of an election end??? Puh leeze!!!
How does building a huge classy wall, building up the military, deporting millions, and a trade war square with the GOP’s mantra about smiller government, Donnie?
I see that trump’s mantra that … I’ll do it my way dammit!!!.. didn’t last very long.
I second that .
