And yet we have a substantial percentage of people in the country who look at this unfamiliar species and say, “That’s me!” Or, worse, “That’s how I aspire to be!” How is that possible?
I like to believe I have some ability to understand and empathize with others. But I honestly find this phenomenon deeply weird.
Welp, there are a lot of not-so-sophisticated people for whom Trump’s style is impressive. They perceive him as very successful and they figure he must have something going on. They’re the same type of folks who give money to the people who call from Windows Technical Support. Gullible, in a word. It’s hard to believe people are that gullible but millions are.
It’s the George Constanza theory of deception; “It’s not a lie, as long as YOU believe it!” I do think Trump is deluded enough to lie to himself (I mean, look at that “hair”!) but I am far more disappointed in those he has fooled. He has zero qualifications for the job of President, in fact he has so many negatives that it is unthinkable that a major political party would even think of nominating this pimple for office. The GOP should be (but will not be) ashamed of themselves. I just read the casino article too…a “great businessman” whose casino business declared bankruptcy FIVE times?!? War is Peace. Ignorance is Strength. Freedom is Slavery. We are headed that way folks…
Once again, El Quacko reaches around and pulls yet another “fact” out of his brain trust. Tell me, Donald, just who are all those people of color who are supporting you?
The only thing more pathetic then having no support from black people is desperately trying to convince people you have the support of one black person. LOL!
Don King may soft pedal his “did he or didn’t he” endorsement, but it says more about Trump that he would value such an endorsement. He was charged with two murders. The first was ruled justifiable homicide, though King apparently had shot the man in the back while the victim was allegedly trying to rob one of King’s illegal gambling houses. But in 1966, he was convicted of second degree murder for stomping to death an employee who owed him $600. It was reduced to manslaughter and King served four years. He would later be pardoned, with the support of several famous people including Coretta Scott King.
As a succesful boxing promoter he would be sued by many of the fighters he promoted - including Muhammad Ali, whose funeral he was attending. As he seems to have done in manyh of those suits, King settled out of court with Ali. Mike Tyson sued him for $100 million. King gave him $14 million to settle.
Here is the money quote from Trump’s “Art of the Deal” -
“I play to people’s fantasies. People may not always think big themselves, but they can still get very excited by those who do. That’s why a little hyperbole never hurts. People want to believe that something is the biggest and the greatest and the most spectacular. I call it truthful hyperbole.”
In other words when he lies, in this mind, he is doing the listener a favor and is thereby telling the truth!
I wish people cared about about the Brooklyn jogger rape case.
It puts in perspective Trump’s attacks on the Trump U judge.
Not directly on topic, but I just thought of this.
There are so many disgusting things Trump has said, but that one is near the top.
