Discussion: Trump Heightens China Tariff Threat With No Deal In Sight

Just as Vlad wants. Both the US and China hurt and disrupted.
He wonā€™t be able to take proper advantage of it, but since heā€™s a sadist (KGB and all), the thing is done for its own sake.

A lot of people are saying that the adverse impacts of Dotardā€™s tariffā€™s on US consumers should really start to appear right before the 2018 mid-terms.

Am I wrong in hoping for that?

If Democrats can stay on message and keep hammering on who is to blame, no.
If after January 2019, a Democratic Congress can start doing its job, no.
If after January 2021, the new President has a successful world apology tour, no.

Already happening.

Well, look at it this way:

Corporate America and major retailers (heading into holiday season). Not our fault, TRADE WARS!

Gotta love it.

There has to be a breaking point - hopefully when they all go broke and then get sick and canā€™t get health care.

Gee, I thought Donnie was the best deal maker, the best negotiator, that all of these simple problems would be solved so easily, that we would be respected again (?) around the world and that America would be made great again (?)? Fraud?

Iā€™m so glad Trump pissed him off. Heā€™s a fighter and I love having him on our side.

I wonder if the Chinese have any dirt on Spanky. They are apparently more active than the Russians at internet hacking, at least in industrial espionage. If they do, you may see an unexpected change of heart soon. If not, the repugs will pick up the tab in November.

I am here in the Midwest. Soybeans are big business in this part of the country. Farmers are being hammered badly. So far the local news has found some farmers who acknowledge they are being crushed by Trump but are still willing to stick with him. I donā€™t think those folks will stick for long. If they have to choose between losing their farms and Donald Trump, they will be screaming for Ag Department protection, protection the Republican congress is not likely to provide.

Trump is about to get a lesson in just how international the auto industry really is. If he starts imposing tariffs on cars he is going to see all auto prices go up. Mercedes and Toyota manufacture in America and Ford and GM have plants all over the world. Fiat owns Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep. I guess Tesla will benefit, but how will that play in the oil patch?

By the way, the Chinese are looking to replace American soybeans by buying from the Russians. Make Russia Great Again. Go Trump.

Stirring up random crap may have worked as a TeeVee show plot, but reality has already been somewhat organized by the flow of energy and commerce through it for centuries. Per Heath Ledger as The Joker in his Do I really look like a guy with a plan? solioqy: ā€œIntroduce a little anarchy, you upset the established order and everything becomes chaos. I am an agent of chaos.ā€

And donā€™t forget there will be increased unemployment, especially in the South, due to the tariffsā€™ impact on German auto (BMW and Mercedes) production and exports. This manufacturing, proving good paying jobs, has significantly aided in the regionā€™s economic development. There also will be negative impacts on Southern ports such as the Ports of Charleston and Savannah, which have seen increased activity as the region has expanded its export activity.

So, increased Inflation and unemployment, reduced local spending, and increased pressure on farm incomes (remember soy beans), not to mention a falling stock will all result from Dumbo Don the Conmanā€™s trade war for no reason. Or maybe there is a reason: to make Vlad happy.

One would think that all this, on top of his treason in Helsinki would be enough for the right-wing to begin impeachment proceedings. But Iā€™m not hopeful.

On the other hand the impact on the November election may be a different story.

The economic pain the Deplorables will feel couple with the revulsion of the rest of the country may (I hope and pray) result in the Democratic control of Congress.

If so, things will start to get really interesting.

Forget the midterms. This bill will come due after the 2020 inauguration. A new admin will hold the bag on this mess just like Obama did on Wā€™s mess. If itā€™s still spanky itā€™s over. If itā€™s a dem it will be back to GOP obstruction and itā€™s still over.

Apparently foreign import automobiles have microwave ovens in the dash that eavesdrop on American citizens. It is an obvious threat to national security.

Virtually the only good thing Putinā€™s Bitch has done is the slow motion destruction of Republican Farmers and Ranchers.

If it works and they are destroyed Iā€™ll take the recession ā€¦ if I gotta work three jobs for a couple of years so be it.

I now purposely buy foreign food, if I could buy ONLY foreign food I would. End the farm bill, remove Ethanol from Gasoline ā€¦ screw the ā€œHeartlandā€.

PS: They cry ā€˜you need our foodā€™ just tell them the land ainā€™t goinā€™ nowhere ā€¦ but they will be visiting bankruptcy.

Thatā€™s not a good thing. The farms end up in the hands of big multinational corporations, and the farmers end up as bitter old people with nothing to do but sit around and mainline Fox News all day.

Quoted for truth. Not a good thing.
