Discussion: Trump Goes Against State Dept's Idea Of Meeting With American Held In Yemen

That public display stood in stark contrast to the low-key, private reception the State Department had envisioned, in keeping with a practice of trying to protect potentially traumatized victims from being thrust into the spotlight so soon after an ordeal.

Not to mention the trauma of being thrust in front of Trump.

The maddest we’ve ever seen Obama was the day he wrathfully released his certificate of live birth and condemned the “carnival barkers” who made it necessary. Pretty sure it was this individual he had in mind when he said that. That’s because it’s perfect—it’s what he is, a cheap pitchman who’d be selling used cars in Yonkers if it weren’t for being born rich.

Trump also said Wednesday that there are additional negotiations to free detainees “going on right now,” but declined to say where, citing concerns about upending talks.

“I won’t tell you where because we don’t want to blow the negotiation out the window, but we have a few negotiations going,” he said. “I love doing it because I love the end result. This is the end result. …

The end result - a chance to mug in front of the cameras as though it was he who actually did the negotiating.

Oh, and an opportunity to humble brag about negotiations that should not be mentioned.

Barf.

What are the chances that the release was expedited by a cash bribe to the people holding Burch?

Next time, send Fat Ass to try to free them personally. And send Ivankadonk and Jughead with him.

Suppose you were holding an american and you saw this hostage used as a political prop by a desperate politician. Do you think you would drop your offer?

I’d suggest it might not just be the trauma to the victim that informs a low-key approach.

Put the cash in a Swiss account and i can but Chinese knock offs and keep a bundle for myself.

State Department - just a bunch of over-educated stuffed shirt eggheads. Takes a real man to negotiate with hostage takers. /s
