Discussion: Trump Floats Busing Migrants To Sanctuary Cities Again, Decries Reporting On It

Speaker Pelosi might see this as an opportunity, assuming she sees it worthy of response. More likely she has important issues to check off of her punch list. This could include preparing a budget that funds ICE with $1.98.

It seems like Agent Orange is losing any hold he has on reality and is basically declaring war on some Americans, and using asylum seekers as weapons.

It is stunning because a decent percentage of GOP reps have to know that he is crazy - it’s obvious on a daily basis. That means they can’t really trust him to carry out their agenda either. They must be afraid that he will do something so irrational and dangerous that even they will pay the price. I’m surprised they aren’t trying to push Trump out and Pence in.

In TWO years he will be gone and in a split second, the GOP will be … Donald who? I never supported his insane ravings.

Maybe we could make a deal with tRump and say, sure the sanctuary cities will be happy to take migrants even those that are drug dealers, rapists, homicidal maniacs. The catch is that you, tRump must agree to take care of all the home grown drug dealers, rapists and homicidal maniacs and pay for it out of your own pocket. Is that a deal, Mr. Deal Maker?

Yesterday I read that Scott Adams (Dilbert dude) is saying that Trump did NOT say that the Neo-Nazis and the counter-protesters in Charlottesville were ‘both’ fine people.

He said Trump was ‘clearly’ referring to the people ‘protecting’ the neo-Confederate statues.

Of course, that is clearly NOT what Trump said, so the ‘desire’ to be gaslit is clearly ‘strong’ in Mr. Adams and the Trumpsters now pushing THAT revisionism.

I don’t know how many GOP pols know Trump is crazy vs. how many agree with what he says and does, but their real fear is their own voters. According to Gallup, 90% of Republicans approve of Trump’s job performance. They can’t buck that large a majority and hope to win either a primary or general election.

The Democrats should release a statement thanking trump for admitting that he and his administration are in over their heads and incapable of managing immigration- despite immigration currently being below historic levels.

They should also thank him for recognizing that the leadership of the sanctuary cities have the competence he lacks to provide proper care and management of immigrants.

Finally, they should point out that, since they are taking on the federal role for immigration, that trump should use his “National Emergency” to make further cuts to DHS and DOD to pay for these cities’ efforts on his behalf.

Actual question: would those migrants be eligible to be counted in the census? Would that possibly add Congressional seats to that state?

It seems to me that he was coached by Kellyanne Conway. Twist the reality until it becomes the alternative fact.

I realize he never has sounded “Presidential”. Ever, but it really seems that, lately, he is deliberately trying not to ever sound or behave like a “POTUS,” and more like someone who he greatly admires. To that point, take your pick of thug dictators around the world. Everyone around him is also treating him, and the American public, in that same manner, elevating him above the rule of law, and common decency. It really seems to me that their end game is the end of the American democratic republic. Everything they do points in that direction.

Impeach the daughterfucker, NOW!!!

The only really interesting part of this depressing spectacle is how even TPM will sometimes maintain the polite fiction that there might, maybe, possibly be some sort of plan behind the chaos. It’s more the newspaper style. Magazines were traditionally a bit more frank about the bloody obvious, and today’s news-oriented websites pretty much call 'em like they see 'em. They do that here, but over on the comment side. I just find it quaint to even wonder if this is anything but Trump flailing around, threatening to break stuff if he doesn’t get his way, with the thing threatened being something even ICE officials told him he couldn’t do.

And does anyone doubt what would happen? Busses would dump the migrants into the cities, and from them would alight not threatening monsters but moms and dads and scared-looking children clutching a doll or stuffed animal. City personnel would greet them and take them to shelters where they’d be treated humanely. And personal stories of gang violence and other miseries at home would flow into the media, and maybe we’d for a moment see these people, learn their names, put ourselves just for a moment in their shoes. It would backfire bigly, because Trump can’t imagine that there are competent, caring people in the world. Just in my local school district there were six new Guatemalan kids registered in the last month. Trump doesn’t know the country he lives in.

P.S. You don’t have to tell me about the Trump supporters out there. I’m aware of that. They’re not the majority. Show me a society that has always gotten diversity right and then scold me about preferring to think the majority matters at least a little.

That much is almost certain.

it’s obvious on a daily basis. That means they can’t really trust him to carry out their agenda either.

On the contrary, Trump will sign whatever they send him and nominate whoever they and the Federalist Society want — he has so far. And they have no real policy other than political retrogression.

They must be afraid that he will do something so irrational and dangerous that even they will pay the price.

Perhaps, but they also know that, like it or not, he is their great white hope who will sign off on the ultra conservative judicial firewall they are creating. In the long run, demographics are against them. They might be able to retain power for a few more cycles, but eventually they will become a regional, “rural” party; they are well on their way there now, and except for the Electoral College, they wouldn’t control the presidency.

I’m surprised they aren’t trying to push Trump out and Pence in.

Pence is not a cult leader and he has a track record in Indiana. He’s stupid. He has no major skills other than being able to lie without “any shame a duh face”. He would be crushed in an election.

It is amazing how lame the So called Democratic Party leaders are to Trump’s racism and his attacks on AOC, Omar, and others.

Are Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Debbie Wasserman Schultz and even Bernie Sanders supporters of Trump’s white nationalism?

As a 65 year old male WASP, what the hell happened to the party of JFK, RFK, and Teddy Kennedy! How the hell did this party become so weak and follow the Clinton Republican platform!

Policy after policy under Clinton are complete disasters for the working class, middle class, and minorities!

The Clinton’s should be expelled from the DNC!

I have lived in FLORIDA for a long time; I remember when the CUBANs began their migration to the USA… most stayed in MIAMI…at the time…MIAMI was a tired old city…many of the people there were retirees from NY and NJ…with some old mobsters who made their home there. at first…this influx of people was viewed with dismay…‘will the last AMERICAN to leave MIAMI,please bring the flag’ was a popular put-down…it was difficult…especially with the MARIEL boat lift…however, to -day, MIAMI is a booming.vibrant city…
