The lying liar tells more lies in an effort to divert and misdirect. The more he suggests “there’s nothing to see here,” the more likely it is that there’s a lot to see, and he’s neck deep in it.
Hillary Clinton brought it up to Trump’s face in two separate debates. The first time, he tried to blame a 400 pound guy at home on his bed. Th next time, Clinton spelled it out incredibly clearly, even naming Putin and saying the purpose was to influence the election. She even asked Chris Wallace, when he asked her about a Wikileaks quote “Finally, will Donald Trump admit and condemn that they are doing this?” I’m not sure how this didn’t make it into your story, but it was said in front of over 50M people and for Trump to claim it wasn’t reported is simply a bald-faced lie (and exactly the kind he’s been getting away with the entire campaign).
Can you imagine if the election results were the opposite and WE tried to play the Russia/CIA card. It would be called conspiracy theory!
Yes, your Illegitimacy. I can imagine the opposite. But what I would expect would be an Olympic Games of collective GOP freakout, calls for hearings, rantings and ravings on Fox News, calls for Dems to be investigated, put on trial and sent to Guantanamo. In fact, The GOP would work overtime over their holiday (1) break to do this. That’s what I imagine.

Why are we not seeing this from the Dems? From Obama, even? What, at this point, do we have to lose? Why are our electeds pretending it’s business as usual when a slow motion coup is taking place? There are no brakes on the Republican slide into authoritarianism. They have nothing but contempt for our democracy and they’ll collude with a hostile foreign power to seize power. Primary reason is that as a minority party they have little power to force hearings, and in contemporary America, unfortunately, power is generally equated with credibility. Still some Dems and Repubs have been speaking out. But not, it seems, Bernie, who has been unusually quiet on this issue. Perhaps not wanting to upset his base at the “Intercept”.

And why are the MSM not playing clips of his earlier statements / responses along with his current statement? This should be a major story. We certainly live in a strange world.
There are multiple factions of the left that really aren’t comfortable with this line of inquiry. Some of it is reflexive distrust of Russophobia harkening back to the Cold War. Some of it is reflexive distrust of the CIA harkening back to the dirty wars. Some of it is, yes, fear of offending Glenn Greenwald and other Russophiles or Wikileaks apologists in the left press. And probably all of it is, to some extent, motivated by that powerful urge to normalize a crisis like this one. Which instinct we urgently need to resist, IMHO.
Any evidence yet that Greenwald was colluding with the Russians? He carried water (documents or computers) for WikiLeaks before.
No idea about Greenwald. I will say though, I seem to recall Snowden warning about something like this, despite his being in a, shall we say, precarious position. Very unlike Assange, of course.
