Discussion: Trump Falsely Blames Dems For His Own Migrant Family Separation Policy

"Not on my watch" (ooh, donnie, you sound big and strong and powerful!) “but only because the Democrats won’t let me!” (oooh, missed it by that much)

It’s a wonder his left foot and his right foot don’t decide to get up on different sides of the bed every morning. His train of thought is a closed circle.

YOUR neuron gets a plaque and YOUR neuron gets a plaque and YOUR neuron gets a plaque and YOUR neuron gets a plaque!

I hope one day soon to elect a government that will cease performing acts of evil. November cannot come soon enough.

Honest question: Do the Democrats have a moral duty to sit down? I’m not suggesting they cave, but if they sat down and gave both barrels, would that be a good idea?

No, I’m not suggesting they are responsible for Trump’s decision, I’m curious if they can beat Trump at their own game?

It wouldn’t be easy to be a Democratic Congress Critter during this time.

Edit: I am NOT suggesting that Democrats cave. But this immigration abomination is happening, right now. With lives being horribly marred minute by minute, should Democrats agree to “come to the table” and then demand Republicans give up this horseshit?

If you want to realpolitik this to the logical conclusion, the Democrats could agree to fully fund the dotardwall and they’d keep locking kids up anyway.

C’mon, don’t be a patsy.

Why is it they only develop a CONSCIENCE as they’re heading out the door?

–> "Speaker Paul Ryan said Thursday he opposes undocumented migrant children being separated from their parents at the border and urged Congress to fix the problem through legislation.

The Wisconsin Republican told reporters at his weekly news conference he is not comfortable with the growing number of minors who are being split from their undocumented parents and sent to detention centers or foster care."

NO they do not. This is wholly manufactured. And, let’s talk about obstruction, shall we? As in Mitch McConnell’s utter contempt for ANY Obama policy - and utter obstruction. This is hostage taking (as another commentor mentioned) and blackmail. If the Democrats do give in, they will hear from their constituents - they’d better not.

Obvious answer to obvious question: in the modern Republican party, a conscience is incompatible with a successful run for office.

Most Republican elected officials just want their money and their tax cuts and are mostly willing to look the other way to get it. These are mostly craven, venal people, not people who are anxious to be evil.

No, I’m definitely not suggesting the Democrats agree on funding the wall. I’m wondering if they have a moral obligation to meet with Republicans, then tell them to go fuck themselves?

That way they agree to do what Trump requires, and stand up for their convictions publicly at the same time.

It’s positive reinforcement to a Trump tactic in which he does the maximally cruel thing to the weakest people in the society in order to get his base jazzed and extract concessions from the decent contingent. And he’s a classic double-crosser and defaulter. It’s folly to think he’ll hold up his end of a bargain.

Speaker Ryan didn’t grow a conscience. He stated the obvious. He fucking well knows Trump made this crisis out of orange cloth. The Republican congress are totally complicit with it. The Democrats had nothing to do with this. Donald knows and Paul Ryan knows how to end this: call off the dogs that Donald sicced on those children.

“If the Democrats would sit down instead of obstructing we could have something done very quickly,” Trump said. “Good for the children, good for the country, good for the world. It could take place quickly.

It’s your stench that we’re temporarily stuck with.

How much longer will Americans swallow his lies? Where do these spineless people come from? This is worse than Germany in the early 30’s. Hitler said jump and all of Germany screamed “How high”

Well, let’s see if the American people agree with that in November.

That they feel the need to lie proves consciousness of just how evil this is – yet they persist – because they are evil.
