Discussion: Trump Expected To Target Iran Again When He Chairs The UN Security Council

ā€œBoogie Manā€ Boogie diversionary tactics!

Oh, dear me no. Just no. Hasn’t the country been embarrassed enough? Perhaps some enterprising chap sawed through one of the chair legs, leaving it attatched by only the most delicate of slivers.

I can hear Hassan Rouhani and the rest of the Iranians already: ā€œAnd we thought ā€˜Seinfeld’ was a goddamned laugh riot!ā€

Hopefully the other leaders will laugh him out of that Council as well.

It’s so cringe-worthy. Trump (and Bolton) are managing the difficult combo task of:

  1. Putting themselves in a 1:1 confrontation with Iran, a country quite split between moderates and hardliners and where the hard line factions genuinely engage in destabilizing acts in other countries
  2. Making Iran look like the totally reasonable party, in spite of #1.

Trying to ā€œout-asshole the assholesā€ is a novel diplomatic strategy? I guess?

I’m watching Trump’s opening remarks as chair of the security council, and there’s no improvement from yesterday. He’s reading from a script, but I don’t know who approved these words. He delivered a strong attack on China and included a testament on how much he ā€œlikesā€ Kim Jung Un - and then explained how only he could deal so successfully with both these countries. Former diplomats just called Trump’s words bizarre.

It’s sort of good in one way - every time he does this before the world, the other countries can see he’s fucking nuts, not just some authoritarian wannabe. I think that contributes to them cutting us out of the loop faster, which is a good thing for the planet right now.

I just happened to catch the beginning of this and it was the same clown show as always. He turned to the Secretary General next to him and asked ā€œDo you want to say something to start?ā€ and Nikki Haley from a chair behind Trump stepped forward to point out to Trump that he had opening remarks on a page in front of him, at which he looked surprised and started reading from them, slowly like a ten year old. His reading level really is painfully remedial to the point where I’m amazed they even let him do this. At one point he said ā€œcondemningā€ when it obviously said ā€œconcerningā€ on the page, so he did his patented BS two-step cover up and added ā€œcondemning and concerningā€ at which point I turned it off.

When PP’s love affair with Saudi Arabia ends, he’ll look at things differently.

The council is populated by five permanent members — the U.S., China, Russia, Britain and France

And 4 of those permanent members just established a deal to get around the sanctions Trump stupidly imposed on Iran when he backed out of the only deal we had with Iran to slow/prevent nuclear arms development. Every single day Trump gets out maneuvered on the international (and national) stage.

When he starts talking, I wish everybody would just get up and walk out. When he’s done. they come back.

No one should invite him to their country, either or greet him when Air Force One lands if he’s already been invited. It would drive him absolutely crazier than he is now.

Case closed.
