I seriously doubt those tweets were written by Rump. There aren’t any capitalized words, there are no misspelled words and the whole “Moscow/St. Petersburg” analogy just strikes me as too complex for his dementia ridden mind to come up with.

It’s not that he doesn’t know. I’m neither a psychologist nor a neurologist, so I am not qualified to diagnose that. But I have seen a lot of salescritters in action, and the Trumpian kind simply don’t care whether what comes out of their mouth is fact or fiction. What matters is, will it help close the deal or not. That’s their “truth”, and everything else is subordinate.

You are right that it’s too complex for him to have written. They likely threw in the “enemy of the people” bit to catch his favor.

I think it’s a couple factors. He has zero regard for objective reality or the truth. Statements are pure instruments to him; he says things he thinks will help him. In this I suppose he thinks claiming both parents as European means he’s objective in his unprecedented attacks on decades-old Western alliances. It’s a way, he thinks, to hide being a Russian asset.
This one’s trickier but I’ve said before you can read that the original trauma that sets people on a path to narcissism as serious as his can lock you in a kind of eternal present where you can’t vividly imagine people checking on what you say and then coming back and calling you a liar or fantasist. That future is hazy and unreal to him, as is the past. Only the present matters, and if he thinks telling an easily disprovable lie in the present will help, he’ll tell it.

The subsidized right wing media created Trump, but the for profit “mainstream” media legitimized him and elevated him to a candidate for president. At this point, it feels to me like we are tackling a whole new phenomenon with weapons from the 90’s. This constant feedback loop of attention to his every brain fart is apparently good for ratings and we know it feeds the monster that is Trump’s ego. He gets more press than all of the Kardashians, Beyonce, and every Democrat running for office in the country put together. Will we ever figure out how someone this dumb and unqualified was elected to the most important office in the world? I have heard and read it all, from the Russians to the electoral college to James Comey, but to me that only explains why someone like him might get 30% instead of 10%. I continue to feel like we are missing the big picture and that the media’s current obsession is going to backfire in some way that we are not currently envisioning.

Donnie has gotten quite good a parroting what’s wrong with him as though that’s what’s wrong with his opposition.

-Germany is dependent on Russia

Since a sizable minority believes anything he tweets or says, getting him out of office isn’t enough. Democratic legislative majorities aren’t enough. Just as we haven’t yet put the Civil War behind us, we may still be undoing the last 18 months 150 years from now.
