Discussion: Trump Echoes General Populace By Being Unimpressed With Jeb's Endorsement by Eric Cantor
And quite possibly an inside trader during the self-engineered government shutdown
Who wants the endorsement of a guy (@EricCantor) who lost in perhaps the greatest upset in the history of Congress?

it took him awhile.
Every once in a great while, I find myself agreeing with a Trump comment. I think this is the second time. I feel so ashamed.
I have to keep pinching myself to make sure I’m not dreaming this. The Republican party is falling apart before our very eyes, the inmates have run a successful coupe and are now firmly in charge of the asylum.
Maybe he’ll ask LePage or Palin to run as VP, dare I dream?
In the Fall of France, in the spring of 1940, the French asked Churchill to commit 25 squadrons of fighters to help in an action that Churchill’s advisors counseled against.
Reluctantly Churchill declined, and History shows that those 25 squadrons helped win the Battle of Britain in the late summer of 1940…which, in turn, gave the Allies a base from which to mount Overlord. In addition, the British were able to evacuate 338,226 men from Dunkirk (men who would fight Another Day)
But a retreat, nonetheless.
[Imagine] Sir Donald Trumply in the 1940 House of Commons yelling at Winnie:
“LOSER!”
This guy cannot possibly have anything resembling a job that he works at. I imagine he sits around in a gold-plated version of his mom’s basement, tweeting out crude insults, belching, and scratching himself, or having the staff scratch him. Nothing much constructive, that I’m sure of.
Blow explains why it is time the media begin to look away from Trump
. . . this man is not worthy of the attention he’s garnering. We in the media have to own our part in this. We can’t say he’s not serious and then cover him in a way that actually demonstrates that we are not serious.
.
Wow…Trump is disrespectful and bombastic. Who knew?
heading back to rearrange my sock drawer
The problem with Trump is that, mixed in with the craziness, is some truth.
I’m not sure “firmly in charge” and asylum inmates go together all that well. The explosion should be yuuuge! And the longer Trump holds on the bigger and messier it’s going to be.
Disclaimer… some may infer that a similarity between Churchill and Cantor (whom I regard as just above a housefly in value) is made.
No.
The idea is that, in politics, decisions are made (especially in Foreign Policy) which may, for the moment, seem like “loser” actions.
The idea of the term “President Trump” must have the State Department experiencing what we call “nerviosismo”
What will Trump call himself when he doesn’t win?
…and in so doing, feeds the fire.
To his credit, the eminently adult journo James Fallows swore off any Trump coverage on July 13 until the debate, saying it was a disservice to the public. And he’s said very little since. Personally the whole circus has me morbidly fascinated but I’m far from proud of it. : (
Word.
Besides, “feeding Trump” (which is an error of COmission) is the just ONE dereliction of duty of what’s left of the “Press”…
The corrupt and debauched MSM’s main shortcomings are their errors of Omission.
*no follow-up questioning
- butterknife questioning
- fluff
- editorial skewing away from the public interest
- info-tainment supplanting national and world events
etc.
This is a mea culpa but he personally will cover Trump no longer. Media coverage need to fall by the wayside one by one.
I will cover Trump as he addresses issues with specific policy prescriptions and details, like answers to the question Ramos asked.
The media is being trolled on a massive scale and we look naïve and silly to have fallen for it, even if he draws readers and viewers. When people refer to the press as the fourth estate, it shouldn’t be confused with a Trump property.
give trump credit. he’s a carny barker, always has been, always will be, and he knows what the people want to hear. he’s right about cantor, who managed to lose an election he should have won in a walk. who wants people like him on their side, except other losers.
oh sure he will, until his paymaster gives him an ultimatum, “cover him, or find another job.”. trump has been playing the media since the 70’s, he knows them better than they know themselves, he is the eternally squeaky wheel, always getting attention. he shouldn’t be president of course, but he knows well how to get your attention.
