I don’t agree with McCain’s politics but he’s a veteran and disrespecting veterans doesn’t sit well with me. Donnie did whatever he could to get out of serving. And he tries to present himself as patriotic. Yeah, right.

Saying McCain was no hero was but one component of his critique of McCain:

Now in order to protect the military veteran flank of his base he'll need to double down on his denigration of McCain. There is something extremely unsettling about a person that truly feels he's never made a mistake, never needs to apologize, never experiences regret, never asks forgiveness. Those traits alone should disqualify a person for the Oval Office. In aggregate they're dangerous.Imagine how much his polling would go up if he shot McCain on Fifth Avenue.

I saw a Facebook meme from a Trumpeter that paired a picture of Donald in his military high school dress uniform, complete with plumed shako, with a picture from about the same time of Bernie Sanders getting arrested during a protest against segregated schools in Chicago. The intent was (I think) to contrast Trump’s supposed patriotism with Sanders’ activist, leftist origins.
All I can say is, some people have a seriously fncked up idea of what constitutes patriotism.
And that right there is Mr. Trump in a nutshell. No grand strategy, no conscience, no moral compass, no inner sense of right or wrong, no concern about the actual feelings of others, no principles to guide his behavior… The only question he asks is “did it get me more attention?” “Did it feed my narcissism?”
